“If you ask what impels me, it is partly an excitement in beauty, colour, fragrance, pattern — and in our own heritage. I do it because I’m proudly Indian.”

In conversation with our founder and creative director Anita Lal (Anita Lal), Forbes India (Forbes India) traces how Good Earth has evolved into a cultural universe and a blueprint for a modern Indian luxury house — distinct, artistic and unmistakably Indian.

“I have two guiding principles — one was the name of my company, which is called Good Earth. I thought everything I do must be good for this earth, and it must show the beauty of the planet. The other was that I’ve always, from childhood, loved nature, plants, flowers, fragrance, birds, trees.”

As Good Earth turns 30, Robb Report India (Robb Report India) sat down with our founder Anita Lal (Anita Lal) to talk about where the brand began and where it is going next — a new flagship a skincare line eight years in the making and her views into the history of Indian chintz.

What if gifting was written in the cards?
Whichever the spirit, there is a gift written in everyone’s cards.
This season, give the gift of wonder with our gift cards. Link in bio.

For those who surround themselves with beauty and abundance.

For those who create light wherever they go.

For those who turn every gathering into a wondrous occasion.

For those who make space for balance and rejuvenation.

For those who always have something worth raising a toast to.

For those who always like things served just so.

For those who believe the best moments are shared.

Our gift cards arrive already dressed for the occasion.
A glimpse into Good Earth’s many worlds — peonies unfurling under an aqua sky, a tropical night in bloom, a cityscape awash with pink roses and wildflowers eclipsing the gold Good Earth sun.
Wrapped like a gift, waiting to unfold into something more.

This season, give the gift of wonder with Good Earth gift cards. Link in bio.

A gift that can’t be foretold but can make any wish come true. Gift someone a Good Earth gift card, and you’re promising them a moment they haven’t lived yet — a small threshold into stories and keepsakes, that can become their own.

Across Eastern cultures, there is a particular kind of delight that arrives folded inside an envelope. Call it a lifafa or eidi — the name, the ritual, and the hands that exchange it may change, but the feeling of receiving a palm size bundle of joy remains the same.

The simple thrill of holding a little piece of possibility in your hands, knowing that its blessing is yours to keep and it’s meaning is yours to decide. The tradition wears a hundred faces, but the wonder it creates is universal.

Carrying the florals of the hills into her home, our Darjeeling collection finds a natural place within the layered world of aesthete Isla Van Damme.

With hand-drawn motifs, delicate blue borders and touches of 24-karat gold on fine porcelain, each piece in the collection has been crafted for those who enjoy the finer things in life.

Created in collaboration with British artist Rebecca Campbell ( ), Darjeeling is now available online. Shop at the link in bio.

At 81, aesthete and avid traveler Isla Van Damme has absolutely no interest in playing it safe with her tableware. For her, hosting a friend on the verandah is an excuse to unpack the world.

Guided by her instincts, she treats her table as a blank canvas, pairing Good Earth Darjeeling dinnerware with a mix of global keepsakes- silver from New York, a ceramic souvenir cow from Brussels, and a vintage service bell.

Why settle for a basic table when you can take your guests on a trip around the world?

Every handloom bears the imprint of identity, weaving together landscapes, histories and the hands that created them. The Gyasar weave is one such storyteller.
Its story begins in the 19th century, when Tibetan traders arrived in Banaras looking for an alternative to imported brocades. Already established as a leading weaving centre, the city’s master weavers adopted and adapted auspicious Chinese Buddhist symbols into their own vocabulary.
From this rich intermingling of history, craft and religion emerged Gyasar—a brocade with its heart in Kashi, its roots in Tibet, and every weave recounting this shared cultural legacy.
