The Lotus Hour
Still carrying the softness of sleep, Uthra draws the linen drapes aside.
The room doesn't awaken abruptly.
Handwoven banana fibre sheers continue to soften the setting sun, allowing light to enter gently, until the lotus begins to bloom across space; not merely as decoration but as light itself.
An architectural textile experience where nature becomes architecture and the room responds quietly to human rhythm.

The Lotus, illuminated.
In a muted palette of earthy beiges, soft greys and quiet textures, the space feels meditative and deeply lived-in.
This home was not styled around trends but around two names Padma and Prakash.
Their names Padma, the lotus and Prakash, the light become the design language, translated into textile, motif, and mood.
The Lotus Block printed cushion, touched by falling light, is a deeply personal signature.

What a legacy.
What we witnessed wasn’t just choreography,
it was culture in motion at curated by , with the PAATA segment co-curated by under the banner of
Welcome to a samskruthi (culture)
that is dressed with the land in
cotton and silk
shaped by climate,
draped for movement, work and worship, choosing harmony with Mother Nature
long before sustainability had a name.

The guru–śiṣya parampare’
where the guru’s trust becomes guidance,
guidance takes form,
and the śiṣya rises into her/his own strength and voice.

This dynasty show was held, honoured, and curated by Guruma .k.mehta
of Academy,
carried forward through her student .raju.

Across the journey, each dynasty was completed in form,
with every model draped in
natural fabrics of silk and cotton, and adorned in traditional jewellery by
where craft, heritage, and lineage met the movement.

What unfolded was rare:
a living passage of dynasties
beginnings whispered by Kadamba,
steadiness shaped by the Western Ganga,
Strength and sweep carried by the Rashtrakuta and Chalukya,
devotion carved in Hoysala stone,
grandeur breathed by Vijayanagara,
dialogue held by the Bahamani,
and continuity guarded by Wodeyar,
all moving together, in depth, in grace and with unmistakable calibre.

Culturotsava came alive because of the generosity, patience, trust, labour and love of many hands and minds of curators, artists, mentors, collaborators, partners, volunteers and friends who value culture, and we invite you to be part of its continuity.
