GOÐAFOSS BED

Named after Goðafoss, one of Iceland’s most iconic waterfalls — a place we have visited many times over the years. Its powerful landscape and irregular rocky edges became the starting point for the design of this bed.

The headboard features a dramatic live-edge Nero marble panel, shaped to echo the natural silhouette of rock carved by water. Against it, the rest of the bed is dressed in warm poplar burl veneer, known for its expressive swirling grain, clusters and naturally occurring variations.

No two pieces can ever be exactly the same. Every marble slab has its own veining and edge formation, while every sheet of burl veneer carries a completely individual pattern.

A bold design built around natural materials, contrast and the beauty of imperfection.

RAILIS KOTLEVS — DESIGNER & CREATIVE DIRECTOR

Railis Kotlevs is the designer and creative director behind Hekla Property.

His creative path has never followed a single direction. Over the years, he has explored music, film, photography, graphic design, interiors and product design — each discipline adding another layer to the way he sees composition, proportion, material and atmosphere.

With more than 15 years of experience in furniture and product design, his work today brings those different creative worlds together. Furniture is approached not simply as a functional object, but as part of a wider visual story — connected to architecture, art, fashion and the character of the space around it.

That perspective has gradually shaped the language of Hekla Property: expressive materials, strong silhouettes, unexpected combinations and interiors where every element feels considered.

For Railis, design is an ongoing process of experimenting, learning and translating ideas from one creative field into another.

And that journey continues.

ASTOR — a sideboard defined by rich materials and strong geometry.

Shown here in walnut burl veneer and polished brass, its front is composed around a radiating brass inlay pattern that gives the piece an architectural, almost Art Deco character. The rounded brass ends and circular details soften the geometry while adding a sculptural presence.

Walnut burl is naturally unpredictable, with swirling grain and deep tonal variation that makes every piece completely unique.

Astor works especially well in refined contemporary, Art Deco-inspired, mid-century and richly layered interiors.
