Harald Kastlunger is a master in his own right. Not because he follows trends, but because he doesn’t.

He changes his style when he feels like it. Demands clarity, honesty, detachment. A true craftsman-artist.

We’ve been exchanging ideas for a while now. Two generations, two different speeds. Same language.

I admire how grounded he is. How secure. No need to prove anything.

Listening to his stories, I realize how much weight a lifetime of work carries. And how the world around can slowly lose its understanding for it.

That’s why I approach him with care.
Not just to learn — but to understand.

Thank you, Harald.

Some days are made for slowing down.

For standing in front of unfinished work and simply looking.

Letting thoughts settle while the room quietly does its thing.

Shapes, fragments, rhythm.
A bit of chaos.

And that moment when it suddenly makes more sense than before.

The guitar on the wall.
Coffee half cold.
Ideas shifting.

Nothing urgent - but still something important is happening.

Sometimes the smallest gifts carry the greatest weight.

A friendly shape, a golden gesture.

Nature has its way of reminding us what matters.

These bronze sparrows are such a gift.

I pass them on with care - and with kind support from .art.frames.

Now on display and available at
Gallerie Kompatscher, Brixen.

I’m grateful for the collaboration.

Still in the making.

Drawings, prints, clay, sketches.

It’s not about perfection - it’s about staying in motion.

Trying things. Layer by layer.

From paper to sculpture. From idea to shape.

Every piece in this studio has been touched, tested, moved, reworked.

And it’s still happening - quietly, steadily, day by day.

Fresh from the foundry.

Two new pieces. Different in nature, yet connected through process.

The falcon was shaped with attention to posture and presence.

Not just a bird in motion, but one that seems to pause for a second as if it just caught a sound in the wind.

The skull is from another animal entirely.
Reduced to its essence, yet still holding a kind of silent dignity.

No feathers, no flight. Just form and memory.

And like most things in the studio:
they turned out a little different than expected - in a good way.

New shapes, new moods.

Somewhere between sketchbook pages and clay lumps, small sculptures are starting to take form – playful, a little rough, and full of character.

The “Milkbag Dogs” and “Banadog” are just getting started, but you can already tell: they’ve got personality.

Still lots of building, shaping, turning, and rethinking ahead – but the joy of it is already here.

More soon.

A few days ago, my brother Philip and I visited in Truden - a true master of his craft and an incredible source of inspiration when it comes to life paths, decisions, trust, authenticity, and the courage to hold on to one’s values.

We talked about music, cities, ideas, and the power of human encounters. It was a true enrichment to spend the afternoon in the sunny valley with him and his wife, in their fairytale-like garden.

A look into his studio felt like a journey through time - through the life of an artist with extraordinary taste, a great heart for truth, a sense for hidden beauty, and a self-respect that strolls with humor and refinement through his works.

My brother and I left with a deep sense of gratitude - on so many levels.

Thank you Gotthard.

Some days in the studio feel like quiet conversations.

You don’t plan much, you just follow what’s already there.

Loose sketches become small worlds.
A new sculpture takes shape between two boxes.

And on the wall, fragments find their place - again and again.

It’s not always clear what it all means.
But the process keeps moving, one layer at a time.

Back in the studio.

There’s always something lying around - sketches, test prints, notebooks.

Sometimes it’s just about looking at things.
Going through old ideas, trying something new, changing direction halfway through.

This week, a lot of birds again.

Some sharp, some loose. Some making it to canvas, others staying in the sketchbook.
