There is a story in the gesture.

One hand rests in meditation. The other reaches down to touch the earth — calling it to witness the moment of enlightenment.

It is one of Buddhism’s most powerful and recognisable gestures, captured here in stone by artisans in Java.

A piece you may choose for its beauty, and keep for what it comes to mean.

Some pieces don’t need a crowded room to make an impression.

This Topeng mask holds the space all on its own—quiet, sculptural, and full of presence. Set against soft light and clean lines, it becomes the kind of piece that changes the feeling of a room the moment you place it there.

The beauty is in that balance: raw character, refined setting, and a home that feels instantly more memorable.

Look at the carving around the eye. It makes you want to trace every line with your fingertips.

Hand-carved in Sumba, our large Topeng carries traditional motifs and the symbolism of protection—a beautiful thought when choosing something for your home.

Picture it on a console against a pale wall, with nothing to compete with that face. You might find yourself rearranging the room around it.

Swipe to see it in full.

A piece of ancient Java, shaped for quiet ritual.

This reversible candle and incense holder is formed from petrified wood dating back to the Miocene era, where time turned organic grain into stone. Use it with candlelight for a soft evening glow, or reverse it for incense and let the room take on a calmer rhythm.

One object, two rituals, millions of years in the making.

For the hours when your home is yours alone.

Candlelight over petrified wood, a trace of Balinese incense in the air. Your favourite painting half in shadow. The pleasure of being surrounded by things you have chosen for no one but yourself.

An ancient figure in a contemporary setting.

Dewi Tara changes the balance of this coffee table without taking over the room. Her detailed surface catches the light, while the black metal support gives the arrangement a clean, graphic line against the pale interior.

Paired with two art books and a bronze bowl, she is a reminder that one strong piece can be enough.

Look at her once and you see the expression. Look again and it is the crown, the jewellery and the patterned drapery. Move around her and the whole pose reveals itself.

In Buddhist art, Tara is commonly associated with compassion and protection. Handcrafted in stone in Java, this Resting Dewi Tara is available online at kirschon.com.

The expression. The traces left by hand. The quiet imperfections that give a face its presence.

Dewi Tara was made to be seen slowly — and somehow, the closer you look, the more peaceful she becomes.
