Informal by design, unconventional by nature.

Designed by Willie Landels in 1965, Throw-Away challenged the conventions of upholstered seating: no wooden or metal frame, just blocks of expanded polyurethane forming the structure itself.

In vivid yellow, this pair is hard to miss.

Designed by Vico Magistretti for Gavina in 1960, Amaja is a study in essential geometry - a circular white lacquered top balanced on elegantly curved solid steel legs.

And once the Lierna chairs join in, the picture feels complete.

Take your pick.

They all do the same job. They definitely don’t have the same personality.

A selection of design umbrella stands from the Fragile collection - each one bringing its own language to a very everyday object.

Which one is your favourite?

Once upon a light.

A conical shade, a transparent glass lozenge, and a diagonal detail that gives Oz its distinctive hat-like silhouette.

Designed by Franco Raggi and Daniela Puppa for Fontana Arte in 1980, it turns a simple pendant into a study in geometry and light, with a playful nod to a 20th-century classic.

70 years after winning the very first Compasso d’Oro, Carlo De Carli’s 683 chair for Cassina still knows how to make an entrance.

Two positions. One design.

Designed by Cini Boeri for Arteluce in 1971, Mod. 235 was conceived to work both on the wall and ceiling. Available in different colour finishes, including the white and black craquelé versions featured here.

A simple design, given two different ways to inhabit a space.

A marble centerpiece, with a twist.

Rare, oversized version of Spirale, where black marble meets a precisely engineered steel spring.

Designed by Achille Castiglioni for Bacci in 1971, its deceptively simple structure hides a clever system: the spiral slots into a guide carved into the marble and locks into place.
The original large version measures 31.5 cm in diameter. From 1984, Spirale was produced by Alessi in smaller versions.

Italia Settanta. One remarkable decade.

We are happy to be part of the exhibition “Italia Settanta. La creatività come antidoto. Arte Moda Design”, with three works from the Fragile collection.

Now on view at Palazzo Attems Petzenstein in Gorizia, until November 29, 2026.

From Alessandro Mendini’s Terra chair to Cini Boeri’s Abat Jour and Achille Castiglioni’s Servomuto, each piece reflects the freedom, experimentation, and energy that shaped Italian design in the 1970s.

Terra chair, Alessandro Mendini for Bracciodiferro, 1974

Servomuto tables, Achille Castiglioni, 1974

A special thank you to curator Carla Cerutti for involving us in this project.
