With poetic precision, I tried to carry Palazzo Dona Giovannelli’s ageless romanticism into the present, reawakening its soul through the transformative journey of the Orient Express.
The Teatro Suite captures the venetian drama in a theatrical lens: here Neo-Rococo influences meet drama, color, exuberance. Movement comes in curves and vibrant hues of artistry. Painted marmorino panels and floral stuccoes frame the room, while silk moirés and sculpted boiseries dialogue with frescoes and plush velvets. Above, the ceiling erupts in a glorious palette: in 1860, Giacomo Casa painted the Three Graces drifting through the clouds, weaving garlands of flowers as cherubs swirl around them.
The marble steps, once connecting the room to the adjoining ballroom, bring another layer of theatre to the space, lending the suite its name.
A loving tension reigns in the new interiors, between legacy and reinvention. Fragments of the past appear in overscale mirrored surfaces, curves and movement take on a sense elegance and glamour, from the grand salon to the most intimate spaces.
