Myth, busted: Staying in bed while you can’t sleep actually trains your brain to associate your bed with restlessness, not rest.
The fix? If you’re awake for 20+ minutes, get up and do something calming (like gentle stretching, meditation, journaling) until sleepiness returns. Your bed should only signal sleep, not frustration. Prevent this cycle by maintaining consistent sleep times (even weekends), creating a dark/cool/quiet bedroom, and practicing relaxation rituals before bed.
