Yambaru Craftworks is pleased to present a solo exhibition by up-and-coming lacquer artist Kado Katsuhisa from April 12-16.
Kado's works push the boundaries of the lacquer genre. Unique, cool, and most of all, he is particular about making the wood last longer with lacquer.
It is said to be very difficult to make a living with lacquer, a traditional Japanese craft, but I feel there is potential to break new ground in this genre.
Please enjoy the improvised expressions born from live sessions with the wood in the mountains of Yanbaru.
During the period from 12-14, "Igimi-tiguma", a craft market of Ogimi Village, will be held nearby. Also, during this period, the field in front of Yamahara Craftworks is in full bloom with iris flowers.
Please take this opportunity to visit.
