京都御所と鴨川の間に建つヴィンテージマンション。その一室を、若いご夫婦のための住まいとして改修した計画である。
住まいには、「住」と「働く」が重なり合う現代的な機能が求められていた。本計画では、単に用途を整理するのではなく、異なる時間や行為を、ひとつの空間の中でどのように共存させるかを主題としている。
生活の中心となるLDKには、キッチン、ダイニング、リビング、ワークスペース、寝室といった複数の用途を内包している。それぞれを明確に分けるのではなく、生活の流れに沿って緩やかに重ね合わせることで、ご夫婦それぞれが自然に居場所を持ちながらも、互いの気配を感じられる距離感をつくり出した。
既存建物は天井高が低く、空間には物理的な制約があった。そのため、視線の抜けやディテールの連続性、家具や造作の高さ・仕上げを丁寧に調整することで、空間に奥行きと広がりを与えている。
東側には京都東山の山並みが広がり、大文字を望む景色と朝の光が室内へ入り込む。6階という高さによる抜け感とプライバシーを活かしながら、都市の中にありながらも、穏やかな時間を感じられる住まいを目指した。
読書をしたり、仕事に向かったり、夫婦がそれぞれ異なる時間を過ごしながら、同じ空気を共有できる住まいを目指している。

A renovation project for a young couple’s residence, located in a vintage apartment building between the Kyoto Imperial Palace and the Kamo River in Kyoto.
While the surrounding neighborhood carries the calm atmosphere characteristic of Kyoto, the residence itself was required to accommodate a contemporary way of living in which domestic life and work overlap.
Rather than simply reorganizing the aesthetics or functionality, the project focused on how different uses and flows of time could coexist within a single space.
The central living area integrates multiple functions, including the kitchen, dining, living space, workspace, and bedroom. Instead of clearly separating each function, the design carefully adjusts distance, sightlines, and material transitions to create subtle relationships between them.
By softly connecting spaces while maintaining an appropriate sense of separation, the residence seeks to support a flexible and layered way of living suited to contemporary urban life.
