โ›ฉ๏ธBefore coming to Japan I didnโ€™t know Okinawa, my imagery was mainly about the big cities and temples.

๐Ÿ๏ธBut the variety of the territory is amazing, Japan stretches for 3800 km and the southernmost islands are near the Philippines.

There you can basically have the tropical sceneries with the Japanese top service ( but also with Japanese prices ๐Ÿ˜†).

๐Ÿงšโ€โ™€๏ธ One of the newest, limited edition fabrics. I only found a small piece of this delicate Japanese cotton but I really love it!

There are sakura ๐ŸŒธ petals made by metallic gold that shine when in the sun.
And all the ladies wear a different kimono with many different patterns ๐Ÿ‘˜

Also, showing the neck with a low collar is considered very sexy ๐Ÿ’โ€โ™€๏ธ

๐Ÿ’With pale purple flowers blooming in early summer paulownia is the symbol of the Japanese government and it is often used in high range family crests.

๐Ÿ‘‘It is also called Princess Tree from the practice of planting seeds when a couple has a daughter. By the time she is ready to marry, the tree has also grown to maturity.

๐Ÿ‘˜The tree is then cut and made into a cabinet (tansu) as a wedding gift. Paulownia tansu is commonly used for the storage of kimono as it can absorb humidity and preserve silk.

๐Ÿช•Kiri is the lightest wood in Japan. It's less likely to break, it's insect-fire-water resistant, therefore high-quality furniture and instruments (kotos, biwas) are made by this material.

๐Ÿช™Kiri is featured in the 500ยฅ coin, the highest valued one. It is also often associated with haiku because paulownia hold 5-7-5 buds, as the syllables of poems.

๐ŸฆŒKanoko means fawn, or young deer. The pattern in fact, made of concentric squares or circles resembles the spots on a fawnโ€™s back.

๐ŸงตIt can also be found under the name of "shibori", the techniques used to create this effect on fabrics.

๐ŸชขShibori is a shape resist tie-dyeing technique where fabric is tied off with strings to form intricate patterns. Fabric is then immersed in the colour and when the strings are removed, it reveals detailed images.

๐Ÿ‘˜This is a very labour-intensive technique that requires specific skills as every knot is tied individually by hand. A kimono with an all-over kanoko pattern is considered a luxury item.

๐Ÿ’ธKanoko Shibori is used to create patterns on kimono fabric and obi sashes, as well as products including wall-hangings and interior articles. It's a symbol of wealth and robustness.

โ›ฉDifferent kinds of Shibori dyeing were popular in Japan from the 7th Century continuously evolving. By the middle of the Edo era, Kanoko Shibori, born in Kyoto, reached its highest development.

๐ŸŸ Koi is one of the ornamental, domesticated varieties of the common carp. It has a great importance in Japan to the point of being considered as the national fish.

๐ŸฃOrigins of carps are not clear, with many different studies pointing towards Europe or Asia. Originally a source of food carps arrived in Niigata prefecture through China.

๐ŸŒพ Before being consumed, farmers placed carps in rice paddies where the fish fertilized the rice plants. They started breeding ornamental koi for their colors in Niigata only in the 18th Century.

๐Ÿ’ธ In the 1914, after an exposition in Tokyo, Koi breeding spread exponentially worldwide. It is believed the the most expensive koi ever sold was purchased for the incredible sum of 1.8 million dollars.

๐Ÿ’ช Koi are known to swim against the current and overcome great obstacle. Therefore, they symbolize strength, courage, patience, and success through perseverance.

โ˜ฏ๏ธ As koi can grow very large and live a long life, they have become a symbol of prosperity and good luck. Their slow, graceful movements also symbolize peace and tranquility.

๐ŸŽ Childrenโ€™s Day, "Kodomo no hi",on May 5th has as decoration carp flags where the black one represents the father, the red one the mother and the blue and remaining ones the kids.

๐Ÿ’› Ginkgo originated in China but its name comes from the ancient Japanese pronounciation (ginkyo) of the Chinese word. However nowadays in Japan is called ichou.

๐Ÿฆ– Often referred to as a โ€œliving fossilโ€, its history reaches back over 200 million years. Even after the Hiroshima bombing some ginkgo were the only survived trees, six are alive still now.

๐Ÿ’ช Because of their strenght and medical properties they became symbol of resilience, health and longevity.
Ginkgo seeds are also a common ingredient in Japanese cuisine.

๐Ÿ‘˜ From ancient times ginkgo appears in paintings, poetry and family crests. By the 17th century it was featured on swords, ceramics and later on jewelry and kimono.

๐Ÿ—ผ The symbol of Tokoy is a stylized ginkgo leaf which represent the initial letter "T". It's in a vivid green color that symbolize Tokyoโ€™s future growth, charm and tranquility.
