[Next Exhibition] Ryosuke Ando Solo Exhibition: “Forms”

Ryosuke Ando’s works possess not only the functionality of everyday vessels, but also a quiet sense of playfulness and charm. Expressions drawn from nature are transformed into forms that embody a subtle tension within their softness. Though created from the same mold, each piece takes on its own individuality and character. Within these “similar yet different” forms, one can sense the artist’s stoic attitude and sincere attention to every detail.

This exhibition will feature popular works including the “Cloud“ and “Dip” series, presenting forms in which each piece resonates with its own unique individuality. We warmly welcome you to experience the work at the exhibition.

日々の器としての機能を備えながら、ささやかな遊び心と愛らしさを併せ持つ、安藤良輔さんの作品。自然の中からくみ取られた表情は、やわらかさの中にほのかな緊張感を宿す造形へと昇華されています。同じ型から生まれながらも、それぞれに異なる豊かな表情。その“似て非なる”かたちには、細部にまで真摯に向き合う作家のストイックな一面が垣間見えます。本展では、《雲》や《dip》の人気シリーズをはじめ、一つひとつの個性が響き合うかたちが並びます。どうぞこの機会にご高覧ください。

[New Arrival] Houhin and teacup with Lines from Asahi yaki in Uji, Kyoto.

The soft, light brown base is overlaid with striking white brushstrokes reminiscent of the flowing Uji River. Made with clay from Uji, this piece will develop a richer character and beauty with use, allowing you to enjoy its evolving appearance. The popular celadon version is also back in stock.

《新入荷》京都・宇治の朝日焼より、刷毛目の宝瓶と煎茶碗が新入荷しました。

優しい薄茶色に重なる、宇治川の流れのような白い刷毛目が印象的。宇治の陶土が使われており、使うほどに味わい深く変化していくさまを楽しめます。人気の青磁も再入荷しています。

[Until this Saturday] Lacquer artisan Takao Togashi solo exhibition runs until May 30th (Sat).

You can browse and purchase a wide variety of lacquerware, including chic Shibuichi-nuri sake ware and cups, lustrous Aizu Tamamushi-nuri small goblets, and traditional Aizu Tetsusabi-nuri confectionery plates. Also, be sure to check out his new jewelry and unique chocolate-inspired piece.

[Exhibition Works] Tea utensils made by Takao Togashi, a lacquer artisan from Aizu-Wakamatsu, Fukushima Prefecture.

With the desire to share the appeal of lacquerware, Togashi creates highly original works while utilizing traditional techniques. This exhibition includes his new Chinese tea ware, which are rare in the world of lacquerware, as well as matcha bowls, tea caddies, tea scoops, and more. Please come and see them.

[Artist Works] Daido-Kohiki Tea Bowl and Ishikure Tea Caddy by Shinbe Sakakura XVI

He succeeded the title of Shinbe Sakakura XVI in 2024. The tea bowls, made with traditional Daido-tsuchi clay, have a warm texture and feel comfortable in the hand. The tea caddies are characterized by their unique stone-like shapes and flowing white lines. We also recommend using his tea bowl and tea caddy together.

Driven by a passion to convey this appeal, Takao Togashi has developed a diverse range of techniques and continues to create highly imaginative works. In this exhibition, he is expanding his collection of new works featuring the beautiful, deep luster of “Aizu Tamamushi-nuri,” while also showcasing a wide variety of lacquer finishes, including “Shibunichi-nuri” with its metallic sparkle and white lacquer with its soft, delicate appearance. He is also placing a new emphasis on tea ceremony utensils.
