#048 隅田川のクロダイ

ほとんど毎朝、隅田川下流の永代橋付近を散歩しています。ビク網を持った釣り人を多く見かけるのですが、釣れているところを見たことがありませんでした。
しかし今回は偶然ですが見ましたよー。見ているだけで興奮しました。立派な43センチもあるクロダイです。持ち帰らずリリースしていました。食べても美味くないかもね。

#048 A Surprise Catch in the Sumida River

I take a walk near Eitai Bridge along the lower Sumida River almost every morning.
I often see anglers with their nets, but I’ve never actually seen anyone catch anything—until today! It was thrilling to witness. They pulled in a magnificent 43cm Black Sea Bream (Kurodai). To my surprise, they released it back into the water. Perhaps it doesn’t taste that great, but the excitement of the catch was more than enough!

今週は団員の田窪さん、陳さんより中国雲南省の写真をお送りします。

2023年9月UNESCO世界遺産に登録されたプ―アール茶発祥の地、雲南省の景迈（ジンマイ）山。歴史ある茶文化とその習慣を継承しながら、民家では必要最小限の明るさで自然と共存しながら、LED 照明を取り入れ暮らしに活かしていることがわかりました。

The photo of this week is Yunnan, China from Ms. Takubo and Ms.Chen.
"Jingmai Mountain is the birthplace of Pu’er tea, which was registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in September 2023. We clearly felt they have successfully adopted LED lighting and made the best use of it in their daily lives, inheriting the historical tea culture and the customs."

#047 北川原温/中村キースヘリング美術館

建築家の北川原さんから美しい本が送られてきました。話題の美術館で6月まで開催されている個展です。
山梨県小淵沢なので少し遠いのですが、電車に揺られて行ってきました。
案の定、とても個性的な美術館でした。コンセプチュアルで床・壁・天井に水平垂直がなく緊張を強いられました。自然の中で一息つきました。

#047 Atsushi Kitagawara & The Nakamura Keith Haring Collection

After receiving a beautiful book from architect Atsushi Kitagawara, I took the train to Kobuchizawa to visit his museum.
The architecture is as idiosyncratic as expected—its highly conceptual design lacks any standard horizontal or vertical surfaces, creating a palpable sense of tension.
It was an intense experience, but stepping into the surrounding nature afterward offered a perfect moment of relief.

あじさいのシーズンももうすぐですね。
探偵団では20年前に箱根のあじさい電車に乗車し、夜照明で照らされたあじさいを見に行きました。
今年も6/12~6/30でこのあじさい電車が走るそうです。
お近くの方は是非夜のあじさい、見にいかれては？

The hydrangea season is just around the corner in Japan.
Twenty years ago, we took the "Hydrangea Train" in Hakone to see the flowers illuminated at night.
I heard that the special train will be running again this year from June 12th to June 30th.
If you live nearby, why not go and see the beautiful hydrangeas at night?

#046 またまた隅田川のお友達です

久しぶりに私の家の周り、隅田川にやってきた鳥たちです。
それぞれ名前が解りますか？
最後の飛び立った鳥は青鷺です。私が「オリコ」と名付けた友達です。幸福の鳥だそうです。

#046 Look who’s back by the Sumida River!

My feathered friends have returned to the river once again. Does anyone know their names?
The grand bird taking flight at the end is my friend "Orico"—a Grey Heron. They say he’s a bird of good fortune.

World Lighting Journey from the Archives、今週は2007年に撮影されたフィリピン、マニラの写真をお送りします。

貧困者が多く住むエリアでは、いたるところで不点灯の街路灯を見た。一方で高層マンションやビルの建ち並ぶ富裕層のエリアでは、どこの国にもあるような没個性的な大都市の夜景が見られた。隣接する街の光のコントラストは、経済格差を顕著に表していた。

The photo of this week is Manila, Philippines from 2007.
"In the poorer areas of the city burned out streetlights are everywhere, but in the wealthier areas high-rise apartments and office buildings stand tall and just like in any other big city, there is a lack of individualism in this nightscape. Compared to the intensity of light in adjacent neighborhoods, the economical gap is prominent."

#045 佃島探偵団こどもワークショップ

恒例の子どもワークショップです。今回は初めて探偵団の地元、中央区佃でやりました。
地元の小学生高学年生が対象です。桜🌸をライトアップするつもりでしたが、未だ満開には早すぎたので、住吉神社や佃小橋などを色々なカラーフィルター付き照明を使って演出しました。
もう少し時間がたっぷりあると、光の英雄・犯罪者の議論も深まったかなあ、と思いました。またやります。

#045 Lighting Detective Jr. Workshop in Tsukudajima

We held our latest "Lighting Detectives" kids' workshop in our home neighborhood, Tsukuda, for the first time.
With the cherry blossoms 🌸 not yet in full bloom, we used color filters to creatively illuminate Sumiyoshi Shrine and the historic Tsukuda Bridge instead.
It was a joy to see the students' reactions. I only wish we’d had more time to dive deeper into our classic debate: identifying the "heroes" and "villains" of light in our city.
We’ll definitely be back for another round!
