今日11月13日は「漆の日」です。
ご報告が遅れましたが、今年も岩手県二戸市浄法寺から新しい漆が届いています。
先日いつものように上塗師たちが集まり開封式wを行いました。皆で漆を肌で感じて、乾き具合など今年の漆の性格を確かめます。
浄法寺の皆さん、今年も本当にありがとうございました。良い塗りものを作れるよう、一滴も無駄にすることなく大切に使います。

Today, November 13, is “Urushi Day”.
We are late in reporting this, but new lacquer has arrived from Joboji in Ninohe, Iwate Prefecture again this year.
The other day, the top coat lacquerers gathered as usual and held an opening ceremony. They felt the lacquer on their skin and checked the characteristics of this year’s lacquer, such as how dry it is.
We would like to thank everyone at Joboji for their support this year. We will use it carefully and not waste a single drop so that we can make good products.

輪島屋善仁の新作蒔絵万年筆をご紹介いたします。

◆蒔絵万年筆　No.9 『菊』
菊は奈良時代に薬用として中国から伝わりました。菊を浸した水を飲むと長寿が保てるとの故事から、延命長寿の象徴となりました。
平安時代以降、朝廷でも好まれ、現在に到るまで天皇家の紋章としても使われています。

本体素材：エボナイト / サイズ：全長150mm / ペン先：14K / 字幅：MF
ヨーロッパタイプのコンバーターおよびカートリッジインク（ペリカン社製推奨）

We are pleased to introduce our new maki-e fountain pen by Wajimaya Zenni.

◆Maki-e fountain pen No.9 “Chrysanthemums”

Chrysanthemums were first introduced from China in 8th century for medicinal purposes and became a symbol of longevity, as it was said that drinking water soaked in chrysanthemums would ensure long life. It was also favoured by the Imperial Court and is still used as the emblem of the Emperor’s family to this day.

Main body material: Ebonite / Size: 150mm / Nib Material: 14k gold /
Character width: M
European-type converters and cartridge inks (Pelikan products recommended).

G_keyakizaka 様のインスタグラムで「塗り椀アート」をご紹介いただきました。今回の制作で、新しい視点、新しい可能性に目を開かせていただきました。（写真と以下のコメントはG_keyakizaka 様のインスタグラムからの引用です）

塗り椀アート
海外の方々は、日本の伝統工芸品を使うのではなく、飾るものとして楽しむことが多いと耳にしました。
そこで、輪島塗の漆器も「飾る」という新しいアプローチで作品を制作するのはどうかと考えました。
輪島屋善仁さんに「アートとしての輪島塗」をご相談したところ、額装に入った蓋付き椀というアイデアをいただきました。
しかし、その後の震災で計画は一時中断されてしまいました。

それにもかかわらず、輪島屋善仁さんは震災復興の多忙な中でも、このアート作品の制作を再開してくださいました。
今回ご紹介する作品は、震災によって傷ついたお椀を新たにアートとして再生したものです。
その制作過程には、伝統工芸への深い愛情と新たな命を吹き込むための真摯な思いが込められています。

このような尊い輪島塗のアート作品を、ぜひご覧いただき、その美しさと精神をご体感いただければ幸いです。

G_keyakizaka introduced the ‘Urushi-Wan Art’ on their Instagram.
This production has opened our eyes to new perspectives and possibilities. (The following is a quote from G_keyakizaka's Instagram.)

We heard that people from overseas often enjoy traditional Japanese crafts as decorations rather than using them.
So we thought that it would be a good idea to create works of art using a new approach, in which Wajima-nuri lacquerware is also ‘decorated’.
When we discussed ‘Wajima-nuri as art’ with Wajimaya Zenni, they gave us the idea of a bowl in a frame.
However, the plan was temporarily halted due to the subsequent earthquake.

Nevertheless, Wajimaya Zenni resumed the production of this artwork despite the busyness of the earthquake reconstruction.
The work presented here is a new artwork made from bowls damaged by the disaster.
The production process is filled with a deep love for the traditional craft and a sincere desire to breathe new life into it.

We hope you will visit these precious Wajima-nuri artworks and experience their beauty and spirit.
