After almost 6 months in Kenya, a new season deserves a fresh look.

I’ve updated my logo to reflect where I am now — inspired by change, creativity, and everything this move has brought.

Same values, same passion…just a new visual chapter.

Golly we’re well into 2026 and I didn’t share the time we found the Swahili day bed in town last month! 💚

Omega and his team make furniture and this day bed was a hidden 💎 under some storage since it needed a repair.

Needless to say, a little time later (pole pole 🇰🇪) - with a few fix-it’s, some negotiations and the strapping onto the roof of the vehicle - we were siting on our verandah with a 🍷!

I’ll share the updated photos soon since we’ve had an awesome upholsterer, called Mash, do the cushions and mattress. Just waiting on the green paint to do a quick once over.

My favourite thing is working with makers and artisans!

We succeeded in our mission this coastal venture to get out to The Food Movement beyond the sisal plantations north of Kilifi Creek after hearing about the co operatives and boutiques based there.

Supporting local artisans and businesses is what we are about, continuously drawing inspiration from architecture, interior design, curation, handcrafts, business models and atmospheres.

And what perfect timing to visit in this season of gift giving! We thoroughly recommend a trip off the man road if you’re in the area.

I’ve been following for a while now in hope for visiting Watamu and yesterday was my chance!

I enjoy drawing inspiration from other interior designers inspiration!

Here we had it, a curation of well made homewares made from natural coastal pieces, ready for slow simple outdoor living, with a mission to repurpose readily available materials.

If you’re ever in Watamu go and visit!

When Sunday afternoons are for slow living were there..

Yesterday gifted us a laid back wreath workshop on my friends verandah with tea and warm cinnamon cake.

These rituals help us expats stay grounded in a new culture and build community and belonging. And the green foliage for the project was certainly abundant up here in the highlands. 🌱

It seems early to me but has anyone else started their Christmas holiday preparations yet?

Typically we are not minimalists over here at Studio Seven but this simply curated space has won us over.

Whilst we await our shipping container the emptier vibe in the house has some perks.

*White enamel jug
*Mango wood console table
*Dried aloe foliage from the garden

You’ll love it or hate it!

In an attempt to paint over the black laminated dining set we inherited, I chose Day Lilly from Dura Paints and it definitely did not turn out the rusty dark pink shade reflected on the tiny swatch I dared to go by!

For better for worse… til we invest in a new table and chair set, this is what we have, and are all the more joyful from the result!

Do you have any design or DIY stories to share that also went off piste?!

Hand carved wooden Swahili doors are worth stopping for! I’m so appreciating the interior and exterior details and inspiration here in Kenya.

A Swahili door or Zanzibari door (Swahili Mlango wa Kiswahili) is a door that was developed in the Swahili coast during the Middle Ages and peaked in the 19th century. The door is usually the first and foremost key element of Swahili architecture and was the historically first item that was built before the rest of the home.
