. The idea was borne out of the frustration that just about every person in Kenya faces when buying furniture. You either pay ridiculous high street prices from fancy showrooms (which by the way have a very quiche selection); or engage the local fundis and we all know what a pain it can be chasing after them! But at the same time, we are amazed at the amount of talent there is in the country. When working with local fundis, there is no doubt that given the right kind of guidance and dogged follow-up, they can deliver some really awesome pieces of furniture. But there is a catch; we all have very busy schedules. Very few of us have the time to hunt, chase after the local fundis, and keep confirming that your piece has not only been done, but done properly and will be delivered on time for that dinner you’ll be having with your guests next Saturday. More importantly, even fewer of us have the patience it needs to see this through. This is where we come in. We save you the hassle and allow you to get your furniture at the click of mouse. We scour the country looking for talented local carpenters, we work with them through the designs, we perform rigorous quality control and ensure that the piece meets the specification and has excellent finishing. Additionally, we organize for the delivery and only ask that you be there to check and receive your goodies. We aim to make unique, minimalistic and contemporary furniture designs. We are targeting young, discerning and taste conscious professionals. People that want to artfully furnish their homes without having to fork out an arm and a leg for it. Last but not least, we emphasize on local. We work with local producers and seek to promote local businesses. Most carpenters we work with are really small family run businesses without the time and resources to reach out to the type of market we have access to. We can whine until the high heavens about the quality of local products, but none of this will change until we begin to engage more actively with local producers, guide them through quality control issues and incentivize them by buying locally.
