Eric Stocker looks at his finished piece. Four months of work in his hands. How many layers of lacquer — forty-five, each one dried for days. How many tiny fragments of eggshell placed with tweezers. How many hours bent over abalone shell, cutting it into feathers. The garnet eye, set like a jeweller would set a stone in a ring.
This is a memorial urn. It's a difficult art to be in — making things that hold the people we've lost. But that's exactly why it has to be done this way. Slowly.

Each piece is handcrafted by master artisans in Siem Reap, Cambodia, using techniques passed down through generations and revived after being nearly lost during the Khmer Rouge era.

Led by Master Artisan Eric Stocker — with 47 years of excellence in lacquer, gilding, and polychrome — our workshop combines French museum-grade expertise with Cambodian artisan tradition.

Eric trained under Pierre Bobot (who worked with Art Deco masters Jean Dunand and Eileen Gray) and spent 25 years as a restorer for French National Museums. Since 1998, he has dedicated his work to training over 350 Cambodian artisans, preserving and revitalizing this precious craft.
