It's always a treat to see guests interact and engage with the awe of glassmaking. This June 3, the Ninth Wave of MISK Artist Residents got to see the studio in action whilst visiting AlMashtal.

من خلال البناء على الورش التاسيسة السابقة من 101 والتجارب التأسيسية مثل ورش عمل الخرز المستوحى من الطبيعة والتجريدي سوف تتعمقوا في تحسين التشكيل وتقنيات الضبط الدقيق. من خلال العمل باستخدام الزجاجالمرن مثل Effetre وCreation is Messy، ستعمل على تطوير ممارستك في التحكم في الحرارة وتشكيل الخرز الأنبوبي بتصميمات مختلفة. إن إتقان الأطوال المختلفة سيسمح بمزيد من الاختلافات في مجموعت أعمالكم الإبداعية.⁠

Building upon the learnings of 101 and foundational experiences such as the Organic and Abstract Beads workshops whilst delving deeper into enhancing your form and fine tuning techniques. Working with Soft Glass such as Effetre and Creation is Messy, you will further develop your practise in heat control and shaping tubular beads with varying designs. Mastering different lengths will allow for more variations in your collection.⁠

Pre-requisite is Foundations in Beadmaking 101 or other foundational beadmaking workshops offered via Yadawi. ⁠
Level: Advanced Beginners⁠
Age Eligibility: 16 years and older.⁠
⁠

Beadmaking in glass is a little bit of physics, chemistry and art. Rotation, parallel handling , gravity and heat all come into play. Particularly in this technique, whereby all the above takes place and in particular gravity. You will learn how to manipulate the glass with heat and gravity to create beautiful striations and shifts in color and patterns. ⁠

This is one of our most requested experiences in our glass series. It is a great group activity for friends and family. Creating your own glass tile with crushed glass in various colors called frit. Your pieces are then put into a special kiln and fused for no less than 16 hours. ⁠
You can create a collection to share and enjoy. ⁠

I have been wanting to start with some cane pulling practice since arriving from Kuwait to Riyadh right after the Glass Explorations In Jewelry Making ended. I was so inspired by Alessia Fuga and our students. ⁠

كان هذا شروق الشمس 🌄 الذي وهبتني إياه أثناء عودتي بالسيارة من الرياض إلى الكويت يوم الأحد الماضي. قبل أن أغادر مسكن زميلتي المريح رتبت جميع الحقائب في الساعة 4:30 فجرا بخزان وقود ممتلئ، والكثير من الماء، و إشتياقي إلى المنزل ممتنة بالإلهام من وقتي والمجتمع المضياف في الرياض.⁠

أخطط لرحلة الطريق التالية للعودة إلى التضاريس الشاسعة والغنية التي تحمل عجائب لا حصر لها.⁠

This was the sunrise 🌄 I was gifted with on the drive back from Riyadh to Kuwait last Sunday. All packed the evening before I left my host’s cozy abode at 4:30 a.m with a full tank of gas, plenty of water and missing home,family and friends full of inspiration from my time and the welcoming community in Riyadh. ⁠
