Fresh out of the ground!
💥Hey everyone, I wanted to share this incredible find from a recent dig. Believe it or not, this is already third WWII German Panzer smoke candle dropping device (Nebelkerzenabwurfvorrichtung) found this year! I think this is from PV IV .

New find: StuG III Smoke Candle Release Box
Fresh out of the ground!

I’m excited to share this rare piece of history – a fragment of the Nebelkerzenabwurfvorrichtung (smoke candle release rack) from a German StuG III assault gun.
Mounted on the rear armor, this mechanism was essential for creating quick smoke screens to cover a tactical withdrawal. Finding such specific components is becoming increasingly rare nowadays.

In my previous post, I shared a part from a Pz.IV. Please note that the mounting brackets for the smoke release system differ between the StuG III and the Pz.IV.“

Rare Find: Pz.Kpfw. IV Smoke Candle Release Rack (Nebelkerzenabwurfvorrichtung)

I am excited to share this rare piece of WWII history that recently came into my hands. This is an authentic Nebelkerzenabwurfvorrichtung (smoke candle release rack) from a German Panzer IV.
This device was typically mounted on the rear hull of early to mid-war Ausf. variants (A through G). It allowed the crew to deploy five smoke candles to create a protective screen during maneuvers or withdrawal. Despite the surface corrosion, the five-cell structure remains remarkably intact, showcasing the robust engineering of German armored vehicles.

Time stands still! 🕒

The swamp has just surrendered a relic from World War II – parts of a German StuG III. It’s unbelievable, but the metal still carries its original colors, looking as if it was painted yesterday rather than 80 years ago. A fragment of history, trapped by the bog but perfectly preserved.
