Comment “GUIDE” to receive a free 40 lesson watercolor guide🎨

I used to think every watercolor mistake meant I just needed more practice. But I realized most mistakes come from habits no one ever explains. Once you understand why watercolor behaves the way it does, painting becomes so much easier.

That’s exactly why I created this free guide.

Comment “WORKSHOPS” 🎨 to discover where we can paint together!

You don’t need to be an experienced artist, have all the right supplies, or know someone who paints.

Sometimes, all you need is a welcoming space, a paintbrush, and a little encouragement. 🌷

Whether you’re just starting with watercolor or dreaming of painting alongside other creatives, there’s a place for you here.🤍

I’d love to paint with you!

Comment “FLOURISH” 🌷 to discover what I’ve been working on for the past two years!

What started as a little idea in 2024 has finally become something I can hold in my hands. 🥹

I wanted to make it easier to find time for watercolor, even on the busiest days.

And after two years of ideas, sketches, and creating, FLOURiSH is finally here. 🎨

Season of golden browns, deep purples, shiny yellows - amazing how colorful Nature can be.

By the way - finding a really great composition for mushrooms is not as easy as it might look.

This composition was exactly like this growing right by my house.

I took hundreds of photos 😂 afraid that my dog will step on them.

Painting can freeze the perfect subject or composition forever ❤️

How do you paint a shadow on a yellow pumpkin without making it look muddy? 💛

Yellow can be tricky because it’s naturally so light. Adding more yellow makes the mix stronger, but often doesn’t give you the depth you need for a shadow. And a tiny amount of a darker pigment can quickly overpower it!

Here, I’m adding violet to my yellow - just a little touch at a time.

💜 Why violet?
Violet sits opposite yellow on the traditional color wheel. These complementary colors neutralize each other when mixed, softening yellow’s brightness and creating a more muted tone for the shadows.

The goal is to keep the warmth and character of the yellow while gently adjusting its value and intensity. Watch how slowly the mixture changes with each tiny addition!

🎨 The balance matters:
• Start with yellow and add only a tiny touch of violet.
• Test your mixture on a scrap of the same paper.
• Adjust gradually - it’s much easier to add more violet than to bring an over-neutralized mix back to yellow.

Different yellow and violet pigments will give different results, from warm ochres to softer, grayer tones. A neutral mixture can make a beautiful shadow. It’s when we lose control of the balance that it can start to look muddy.

And remember: there isn’t one perfect shadow color for every yellow subject. Look closely at your reference - the light and surrounding colors influence what you see. 🌼

Save this for your next Pumpkin or yellow flower painting!
