Bake an Apple Pie,... and all the chaoes, anxiety, worry will be gone. At least for me.

Mixing the apple filling, with my (gloved) hands, with the cinnamon, sugar and vanilla, makes me wanna eat a cube of the apple (which I always do).

Rolling out the dough and weaving the lattice on top, gives me joy and satisfaction of creating a work of art (though crude it may be for the untrained baker in me). And brushing the eggwash and adding the leaves of cut oit pastry, completes the artwork.

Finally, sprinkling the coarse sugar to make it sparkle, feels like sprinkling magic and wishes come true.

Baking it in the oven, until the sweet aroma fills the air, makes the house feel like a cozy country home inviting the neighbors to drop by for a slice and a chat.

That, for me is the best Apple Pie!

With love, Aunty Faizah. ❤️

Make a batch of this Garlic Chilli Oil and chill for whenever you want a spicy condiment to your dishes or meal. Add a dash on fried eggs, a side to your rice or meat dish for a spicy kick. Forego the bottled chilli sauce for this flavorful, homemade chilli oil instead. The amount of heat or spicyness depends on the chilli types used. I like using fresh chillies instead of dried ones.

Make Sunday the day for a homecooked meal with the family. If not today, then when?

For me, it was the day when we would go to the wet market and get fresh produce for the week. Sunday late mornings would be a family affair where there will be a brunch spread and everyone would get involved and have a proper sit down meal together.

Nowadays it is just the two of us and we still appreciate being able to have a homecooked breakfast on Sundays. Just one day off from the busy off to work other days of the week.
