To be taught by cikgu, usta, hoçam ; Dr. Norwani Nawawi..is truly an honour.

She introduced me not only to Songket, Malay motifs, and the foundation of designing Malay textiles, but also to the depth of thought, philosophy, and cultural values woven within them. Every session felt incredibly inspiring and fruitful.

A true legend, and truly one of Malaysia’s greatest gems. I’m deeply grateful for the knowledge, generosity, and wisdom she shared with us 💕

SONIC VEIL (2026)
.basket gone wild..

it used to behave. it used to be functional.

now it refuses to sit still, keeps expanding its ego through tensioned fibres and bad life choices.

i didn’t design it anymore. i just supervise it.

at this point it’s not a basket. it’s a structural event.

**This piece emerges from a sculptural exploration of soft materials, challenging their association with fragility. Constructed entirely through basketry techniques, each fiber is carefully arranged and interwoven, forming a structured surface through rhythm and repetition. Its strength is revealed through the precision of its composition and the intentional placement of every strand.

WHITE NOISE (2026)
This piece moves… but never quite settles.
An undulating surface that shifts between rising, falling, and holding tension within its creases.

The chevron, drawn from the traditional siku keluang motif ; works as both structure and rhythm. It binds the weave, but refuses to resolve into a single direction.
I want the eye to sit with the white.
To really look into it… long enough that it begins to feel like something else.
Like a quiet static. Something you don’t just see, but almost hear.

Medium: Polyester thread, cotton ropes, PVA, self doubts..etc & oh.. batik dye
Size: 122 x 61 cm

.galleries TAKSU is thrilled to announce the opening of Material Culture, a group exhibition showcasing sculptural works by local and international artists.

In a landscape often dominated by the two-dimensional, this exhibition explores the sophisticated frontier of sculpture by redefining the boundaries of volume and mass through a quiet rebellion.

By uniting polymers, traditional carving, and ready-made, this showcase asserts a bold diversity of materials. These pieces do more than merely occupy space; they position three-dimensional form as a vital bridge between innovation and traditional craftsmanship.

Join us as we celebrate TAKSU’s first-ever large-scale sculpture exhibition. Let’s fully leverage this milestone to craft a compelling and engaging story!

Exhibition Date: 16 April - 2 May 2026
Opening Reception: Thursday, 16 April, 7pm - 10pm

RUJI / Staple 🌾
Commissioned for KLCG Confectionery & Bakery at Bangunan Sultan Abdul Samad.
An interpretation of Kuala Lumpur map layout, focusing on the surrounding of Bangunan Sultan Abdul Samad - where rivers meet and histories overlap.

The spatial language draws from traditional kelarai patterns in tikar mengkuang, specifically the Kisar Mengiri (Kisar Padi) motif - a symbol of sustenance, continuity, and life.

For generations, these patterns lived within domestic spaces -humble, functional, foundational.

Installed within walls layered with governance and memory, the work bridges domestic heritage and public architecture, translating tradition into contemporary form.

In RUJI, the motif becomes structure.
Spokes become ribs.
Weaving becomes architecture.

I love making art that is accessible in public spaces -
made by hand, meant to be met casually, and quietly woven into daily life 🪢✨

Accepting the challenge and pushing boundaries with this fiber art installation, especially collaborating it with illustrations was something I’ve always imagined doing. And we made it happen, and it turned out awesome.
I’d love to do it again!
From flat woven + 2D into a 3D installation. so much fun exploring depth through making.

Behind the scene / Concept of
“Echoes of the Woven Route”

For this CHAGEE MY 霸王茶姬 flagship collaboration, I set out to bring immersive woven textures, to let the layers of fiber speak and breathe across their vertical high wall in WOLO Kuala Lumpur Bukit Bintang has always felt special. Every corner reminds me of the place that shaped my childhood and who I am today. IYKYK!

The idea began with a simple thought: from the misty mountains of Yunnan to the vibrant heart of Kuala Lumpur.
It’s a journey, tracing the ancient tea trading route as both a path and a memory.

Inspired by traditional Malaysian Songket and Kelarai, the woven panels carry the Tampuk Manggis mudah / simplified mangosteen motif ; a symbol of welcome and abundance.. shaping it to flow like the contours of a landscape. Each strand became its own story, mapping mountains, valleys, and moments along the way.

The layered collaboration with Afi Sulaiman's 2D illustrations creates a meeting point between texture and images, tradition and modernity.
Together, they form not just a scene, but a homecoming.

Through a blend of fiber techniques and natural textures, this installation becomes more than a wall. It’s a woven timeline, connecting continents, generations, and cultures, rooted in craft and united by the threads of trade, memory, and home.
