UNRAVEL: Interior Design Diploma Showcase 2024 (vol.2)

The concept of "UNRAVEL" signifies the process of untangling, resolving, or revealing complexities. It refers to breaking down intricate problems or situations to gain a deeper understanding and ultimately achieve resolution. On a broader level, "unravel" embodies discovery, as hidden layers are peeled away to reveal deeper truths or insights. The term conveys a sense of gradual progress, where confusion or difficulty is replaced by clarity and resolution, making it a powerful metaphor for problem-solving and transformation.

“UNRAVEL” represents the process of confronting and resolving complex societal and environmental issues. The show exhibits five different areas of concern; ‘The Hair Hub’ – which investigates hair-based material for oil spill remediation, ‘Eating Disorder Therapy Centre’ – emphasizes on health threatening issues related to eating behaviour, ‘Golden Mind School’ – a place dedicated to life-long-learning for senior citizens, ‘Physically Challenged Artist Hub’ – a support for artist with disabilities and ‘Senior Citizen Community Centre’ – managing activities for the aging group. The design projects exhibited, demonstrate the unravelling of problems and formulating of solutions for various users, to promote healing, growth and positive change.

COEXISTENCE
Evidences have shown that human can hardly survive being and living on their own. People not only require a liveable environment but they need families, companions, partners, friends and even animals, to manage life as it is.
The theme “Coexistence”, exhibit spaces where individuals from different background converge at a common place to express their ability to commune and help solve common issues that are affecting their lives. Our daily lives are inspired or sometimes influenced by people and activities around us and the spaces where we coexist.
The exhibition showcases projects covering places concerning social, environmental, art and cultural related issues, gathered from graduates of two different academic sessions.
