We humbly share our joy in receiving three awards at the Malaysian Institute of Interior Designers MIID REKA Awards 2025.

Soka International School Malaysia (SISM) is a groundbreaking educational institution that is setting new standards in sustainable design, education, and community development. Located in Malaysia, SISM is Soka Education first global international school to adopt a value-creating education system and is centered on a belief in every child’s unlimited potential,

The client’s vision was to create an educational environment that is unconventional and timeless, resisting temporary design trends while inspiring a deeper sense of purpose. Rooted in the Soka philosophy of “Value-Creating Education”, the school embodies the ideals of global citizenship, sustainability, and holistic learning — a true home away from home for students.

Every space is designed to tell its own story, reinforcing the school’s humanistic values while nurturing a sense of belonging and identity. Sustainability stands at the core of the brief, with the project aspiring to GBI Platinum certification. Building design prioritizes natural light, cross ventilation, and energy efficiency, incorporating strategies such as lux-level compliance to reduce energy usage without compromising comfort.

Beyond environmental responsibility, the spaces are envisioned to be practical, adaptable, and future-proof. The brief calls for environments that not only support teaching but also empower and stimulate critical thinking, creativity, and collaboration.

In essence, the client sought a campus that is eco-friendly yet human-centered, functional yet inspirational — a school that reflects its mission to educate global citizens with wisdom, courage, and compassion, while standing as a benchmark for sustainable design and value creation.

Our last project in Klang was more than a decade ago, when we were commissioned to design a private residence for a prominent local tycoon. This time, we are returning to the region with a new opportunity—being entrusted with several key areas for the development of a new building at a Chinese private school.

It is a fresh and exciting experience for us, coming shortly after the successful completion of the Soka International School project, which in fact opened the door for this commission.
