Cattleyas are native to Central and South America, growing mostly as tree-dwelling epiphytes in bright forest canopies.
Blooms: Flowers range from 2 to 6 inches across with bold shades of pink, purple, yellow, white, and red.
Distinct Lip: Feature a showy, modified third petal (the lip) often contrasting in color with a ruffled edge.
Growth Habit: Use thick water-storing stems called pseudobulbs along a creeping rhizome.
Basic Care
1. Require bright, indirect light (enough to turn leaves a light yellow-green rather than dark green).
2. Need thorough waterings followed by letting the potting mix dry out completely before the next drink.
