In October 2019, ceramics artist, Liew Kok Ming, started the "Sun and Moon Pottery Studio" in a quaint little town, Pekan Nanas, or "Pineapple Town" in Johor, Malaysia. Kok Ming's curiosity for pottery began at a very early age, and there are stories of a 18 year-old boy approaching a very elderly local potter to ask for an apprenticeship, but was unsuccessful. In 2003, the chance meeting in Kota

Tinggi (Johor) with a happier outcome, with a distinguished senior Malaysian Ceramics Artist/Potter, Mr Peter Low, was the beginning of an exciting journey for Kok Ming. At weekends, Mr Low would open the vast grounds of his pottery studio for visitors, and for hikers like Kok Ming who come to the adjacent woods for hiking/trekking, to park their cars. This meeting with Mr Low rekindled 29 year-old Kok Ming's passion to learn more about this art, and the latter would take time off whenever he can from his successful career in the construction industry to learn the craft part-time under the tutelage of this distinguished potter. Kok Ming continued to work closely with Mr Low till he left to start his own pottery studio, "Sun and Moon Pottery Studio" - a place where he can share his passion, and enjoyment for this art with others.
