Every home has a face.
And long before the doors open, it has already begun telling its story.
When we first arrived at Véra Maison, the bungalow carried the character of another time.
Its arched windows, classical columns, balcony balustrades and pitched rooflines were still present—quietly holding the memories and architectural identity of the original house.
Our intention was never to erase that history.
Instead, we wanted to understand what made the bungalow distinctive, preserve the details that deserved to remain, and gently introduce a new expression for the family who would call it home.
The exterior was refreshed in a predominantly white palette, allowing the original architecture to feel lighter, clearer and more defined.
Against this calm foundation, deep blue lines trace the roof edges and façade—bringing depth, character and a confident identity to the residence.
At the centre, the blue entrance door creates a meaningful focal point.
It is the point where every arrival begins.
Where the family returns at the end of the day.
Where guests are welcomed.
And where the first glimpse of life inside Véra Maison is revealed.
The original arched windows continue across the façade, preserving the familiar rhythm of the bungalow while allowing daylight to enter the spaces within.
Above, the decorative roof pediment adds a quiet layer of craftsmanship—one that may not be noticed immediately, but contributes to the home’s sense of permanence and character.
The journey towards the house was considered with the same care.
The ornamental gate marks the beginning of arrival, while geometric paving guides movement across the generous front grounds.
Soft landscaping and an open lawn create breathing space around the architecture, allowing the home to feel established without becoming overly formal.
Along the side of the bungalow, a once-exposed passage was transformed into a sheltered walkway.
Designed for Malaysia’s changing weather, it offers protection from sun and rain while allowing natural brightness and ventilation to remain.
Further within the garden, a patterned outdoor shower feature turns an everyday function into a small moment of discovery.
Each element plays a part in the story.
The gate that opens.
The pathway that leads home.
The façade that welcomes.
The windows that hold the light.
And the entrance door that separates the outside world from the familiar comfort within.
From an ageing bungalow to a renewed family residence, the transformation of Véra Maison was not simply about creating something new.
It was about allowing the home’s original character to continue—refined for the present, prepared for everyday living, and ready to hold a new generation of memories.
Because the most meaningful transformations do not remove the past.
They give it a beautiful place within the home’s next chapter.

A beautiful interior is never created through drawings alone.
It takes shape gradually—through careful planning, precise ex*****on and countless decisions made throughout the construction journey.
At this stage of the project, our designers returned to site to review the ongoing tiling works. From tile alignment and surface levels to joint consistency, edge finishing and the transitions between different areas, every detail was carefully checked before work progressed to the next stage.
Because even the smallest alignment can influence how the completed space eventually feels.
A clean tile line affects the placement of customised carpentry.
A precise floor level affects the transition between spaces.
A carefully finished edge contributes to the overall refinement of the interior.
These details may not always be immediately noticeable, but together, they determine the quality and integrity of the completed home.
At Design Bliss Malaysia, our role begins with interior design—but it does not end when the drawings are completed.
As an interior design and build studio, our team remains actively involved throughout the entire project journey—from concept development, space planning and material selection to technical coordination, construction, site inspections and final handover.

A home is not shaped by its appearance alone.
It is shaped by the quiet details that support daily routines—the places where belongings are kept, where meals are prepared, where work takes place, and where familiar moments unfold each day.
At Véra Maison, the bespoke cabinetry was designed as part of this everyday story.
From the kitchen and dining area to the study space, wardrobes, display cabinets, and full-height storage, every element was carefully considered around the way the family lives.
In the kitchen, panelled cabinetry brings a timeless sense of character while providing practical storage for everyday use. Glass-fronted cabinets create space for meaningful pieces to be displayed, while full-height units make use of the home’s vertical proportions.
Within the study area, customised cabinetry frames a quiet corner for focus and reflection. In the bedrooms, built-in wardrobes provide an organised place for personal belongings—allowing the spaces to remain calm, comfortable, and uncluttered.
Across the home, soft neutral finishes establish a sense of lightness, while darker cabinetry introduces depth and contrast. Subtle brass-toned hardware, refined moulding details, and carefully considered proportions complete the contemporary classic character of the interior.
Yet behind every finished cabinet is a process that is rarely seen.
Measurements are studied.
Storage requirements are understood.
Door and drawer alignments are coordinated.
Materials, lighting, and hardware are selected in relation to the surrounding space.
Each decision may seem small on its own.
But together, these details influence how naturally the home functions and how complete it feels.

A sense of arrival, followed by a journey within.
The experience of a home begins long before we enter its living spaces.
It begins at the entrance—with the first view of the doorway, the touch of the handle, and the feeling created as the door opens to reveal the home beyond.
At Véra Maison, the entrance and staircase were designed as one continuous story.
The entrance establishes the home’s identity, while the staircase carries that character upwards—connecting the different levels through material, colour, craftsmanship, and light.
The deep blue entrance door creates a confident first impression against the predominantly white façade. Its classic panel detailing and brass-toned handles introduce a sense of elegance, while patterned glazing and the black-and-white flooring bring definition and character to the arrival space.
From the exterior, the entrance feels bold and distinctive.
From within, it becomes part of a carefully composed foyer—framed by rich blue wall panelling, decorative mouldings, classic columns, and filtered natural light.
As the journey continues into the home, the staircase gradually comes into view.
Rather than replacing the existing timber staircase entirely, its familiar structure was thoughtfully retained and enhanced. The warmth of the timber steps and turned balustrades preserves a connection to the original house, while newly introduced details give the staircase a renewed identity.
Patterned tiles along the stair risers create a sequence of decorative moments, revealed one by one with every step. Their rich colours and intricate motifs bring warmth and cultural character, forming a considered contrast against the natural timber.
Subtle brass-toned inlays add rhythm across the stair treads, while the generous glass-block window allows daylight to move gently through the stairwell. Classic wall mouldings frame the vertical space and connect it with the wider contemporary classic language of Véra Maison.
Every element contributes to the experience of arrival.
The bold entrance door that welcomes.
The foyer that creates a moment of pause.
The staircase that invites movement.
The patterns, textures, and changing light that guide the journey further into the home.
Together, the entrance and staircase become more than functional transitions.
They form the opening chapter of Véra Maison—a journey that begins at the threshold and continues through every level of the residence.
In transforming an existing home, good design does not always mean removing everything that came before.
Sometimes, it is about recognising what deserves to remain, introducing what the home needs, and allowing the old and new to continue the story together.

A complete home is shaped by every space within it.
When designing a residence, attention is often drawn towards the main living areas—the places where family members gather and guests are received.
Yet the experience of a home is also influenced by the quieter spaces in between.
The bathroom used at the beginning of each morning.
The powder room prepared for visiting guests.
The sheltered outdoor area where conversations continue over a meal.
At Véra Maison, these supporting spaces were given the same level of consideration as the rest of the bungalow.
Each area was designed with its own identity, while remaining connected to the home’s contemporary classic character through colour, detailing, proportion, and material.
Within the bathrooms, deep blue and green wall tiles create richness and visual depth. Their reflective surfaces respond gently to the light, while warm brass-toned fittings introduce a refined contrast.
Panelled vanity cabinets bring a familiar classic detail into each space, with floating designs maintaining a sense of openness and allowing the more compact bathrooms to feel lighter.
In another bathroom, a dark marble-inspired feature wall creates a more dramatic atmosphere. Set against the soft white cabinetry and surrounding neutral finishes, it becomes a strong visual anchor without overwhelming the space.
Every element is carefully composed.
The position of the basin.
The proportion of the mirror.
The warmth of the lighting.
The relationship between the cabinetry, fittings, and wall finishes.
Beyond the interior, the covered outdoor dining area offers a different rhythm of living.
The original structure was refreshed with a lighter architectural palette, allowing the classical columns, ceiling details, and surrounding arches to feel more defined. Black-and-white flooring continues the visual character found throughout the bungalow, while blue-and-white awnings introduce a relaxed sense of charm.
Protected from the changing weather, the space becomes a comfortable setting for shared meals, quiet mornings, and unhurried gatherings—extending everyday living beyond the walls of the home.
From private bathrooms to open-air spaces, every area contributes to how Véra Maison is experienced.
Because a thoughtfully designed home is not defined by one statement room.
It is created through the consistency of care given to every corner—whether it is seen by everyone or experienced only in the quiet moments of daily life.

A private retreat, shaped around the way each day begins and ends.
The master suite is more than a bedroom.
It is the most personal part of a home—a place to withdraw from the movement of the day, settle into a quieter rhythm, and feel completely at ease.
At Véra Maison, the master suite was designed as a continuous private experience, bringing together the sleeping area, a personal lounge, the walk-in wardrobe, and the master bathroom.
Each space carries its own purpose and atmosphere, yet remains connected through a consistent contemporary classic design language.
Within the bedroom, botanical wall panels introduce depth, colour, and a gentle connection to nature. Framed with refined gold-toned mouldings, the artwork becomes part of the architecture rather than simply a decorative addition.
Deep green wall panelling grounds the space, while the warm timber parquet flooring brings familiarity and comfort beneath.
Beside the sleeping area, a quiet lounge corner creates a place for slower moments.
A space to read.
To pause before the day begins.
Or to simply enjoy a little time away from the busier areas of the home.
The journey continues into the walk-in wardrobe, where full-height customised cabinetry brings order to the family’s daily routine.
A central island provides additional storage and a practical surface for dressing, while illuminated display cabinets create moments for treasured accessories and personal belongings to be seen and appreciated.
Beyond storage capacity, careful attention was given to proportion, accessibility, and movement.
The cabinetry is arranged to maintain a comfortable circulation path, allowing the wardrobe to feel generous, composed, and effortless to use.
The master bathroom completes the suite with a calmer, more grounded atmosphere.
Dark marble-inspired finishes create a strong visual frame around the shower area, balanced by light-toned flooring and soft white cabinetry. A generous vanity extends along the wall, providing practical storage while maintaining a sense of openness.
Natural light enters through the original arched window, softening the darker materials and preserving one of the bungalow’s distinctive architectural features.
From bedroom to wardrobe and bathroom, every area supports a different part of the family’s routine.
A place to rest.
A place to prepare.
A place to organise.
And a place to begin again.
The transformation of this master suite is not only seen in its finishes.
