Puff puff! A delightful snack that’s fluffy, light, and so addictive! Here’s a simple recipe for you:
Ingredients:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup sugar (adjust to taste)
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup lukewarm water (or milk)
- 1 teaspoon active dry yeast
- 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg (optional, for flavor)
- Oil for frying
Instructions:
1. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, yeast, salt, and nutmeg if you're using it.
2. **Combine: Pour the milk or lukewarm water, add it to the dry ingredients. Mix well until you have a smooth batter. The consistency should be similar to pancake batter.
3. Let It Rise: Cover the bowl with a clean cloth and allow it to rise in a warm place until it doubles in size.
5. Heat Oil: In a deep pot, heat the oil over medium heat. You want enough oil for frying, about 3-4 inches deep.
6. Fry the Puff Puff: Once the oil is hot (you can test by dropping a small amount of batter in—if it sizzles and rises, it’s ready), use your hands or a spoon to drop small balls of batter into the hot oil. Fry in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pot.
7. Cook Until Golden: Fry until golden brown on all sides, about 3-5 minutes. Use a slotted spoon to remove them and let them drain on paper towels.
8. Serve: Enjoy your puff puff while they’re warm! You can sprinkle some powdered sugar on top or serve with a dipping sauce if you like.
Enjoy your cooking, and let me know how they turn out! Buon appetito! 🍽️✨
