4 things I refuse to normalize as an interior designer in Nigeria 🚫
Save this if you're planning a home makeover, because these mistakes are more common than you think.
❌ Copying Pinterest without context — our Nigerian climate, lighting, and lifestyle are completely different from what you see online. Your home needs to reflect where you actually live.
❌ Designing for the camera — a beautiful home that you can't actually function in is not good design. Storage, layout, and comfort come first.
❌ Filling every corner — negative space is intentional. It's what makes a room feel calm, curated, and expensive. Not every corner needs something in it.
❌ Rushing the process — sourcing, procurement, and installation all have a proper sequence. Skipping steps is how you end up with a result nobody is proud of.
Good design takes intention, patience, and someone who actually understands your space.
