About my way of work and vision –

In my studio and shop I creates a small series from clay using different techniques; wheel throwing, molds and hand building techniques, I work with a great sense for aesthetics and each item is a unique handcrafted piece of art. Every piece is special and when seen them in person, you can appreciate the detailing and attention in it. As a ceramic designer I am

experimenting in clay; his texture, pattern and shape, my pieces are influenced by the objects that surround me and I find my inspiration in everyday life, people, objects and nature, I see myself rediscovering function through the process of design by playing with material. Design to me concerns functionality and beauty, personality, simplicity and innovation,

After 20 years working as a ceramic designer, and 16 years building this studio and business in Amsterdam from scratch, I feel it’s time to move on.

It feels like the right moment after many years.
A mix of timing, energy, and the need for something different, while still staying close to creativity.

Over the years, this space became more than just a business.
It’s been a place where thousands of people came to explore clay, express themselves, play, create, and enjoy the process.
It shaped my daily rhythm, my work, and a big part of who I am.

Letting go of that is not easy,
but it also feels right to move forward.

In a few months, I will be closing this studio space that has held so many people, moments, and creativity.

Until then, the studio is still open,
hands in clay, workshops running, and ideas taking shape.

I’ll share more soon.

I have made brushes from ceramics and plants. They play on the line between tool, symbol, and object.
In my studio space, most of the brushes are displayed, while some are available for visitors to paint with — where stillness and action coexist.

You’re welcome to try painting with the brushes during the exhibition days.

This exhibition started with a single brush — a symbol, a tool, a beginning.
It became a way for me to explore the act of creating itself.

Brush It Off brings together several years of that exploration — through handmade brushes, each one cast in liquid clay and paired with grasses that I’ve gathered over time.

I’ll be showing these brushes in the space where they were made — my working studio, transformed for the week into an exhibition space, filled with the textures, tools, and rhythm of my making process.

Please join me at my studio for the exhibition and step into that space — to observe, reflect, touch, maybe paint, or just stop by and say hello.

During the exhibition week, you’ll be able to paint with a selection of brushes, connect with others who care about making, and purchase pieces from the first collection I’m offering — each one unique. After the show closes on November 16, a selection will also be available online.

Giving Broken Ceramics a Second Chance.

Running a green clay studio means finding new life for broken pieces instead of throwing them.

Every year I pass my baked broken pieces to a mosaic artist who turns them into beautiful art. If a piece just has a tiny crack, I sell it at a discount. And sometimes, I leave a box of more damaged pieces outside my studio for free, they usually disappear so fast!

Another idea? Donate broken tiles and ceramics to local school art programs. Or, if you’re feeling adventurous, smash them up and use them for building, gravel, or even in the garden!

When we create and work with clay, we’re not just shaping it, we’re also learning about ourselves.

How we touch, press, or respond to the clay can reveal much about how we approach life and can reflect our emotions, thoughts, and automatic patterns. This process allows us to discover insights about our behaviors and inner world.

• We can observe how we approach challenges and expectations.
Do we control, resist, or flow with the material?

• Which emotions arise while working with our hands?

• We can explore our relationship with touch, texture, and sensations.

• We can practice creating without judgment and allowing unconscious thoughts to surface.

• We can reflect on the process and what it reveals about us.
