How can we strengthen the connection between people and the objects in their interiors?

In a world of mass produced products , people are given less and less space to shape their own surroundings. Interiors are filled with mass-produced products designed for a broad audience, which can gradually reduce personal expression and weaken the connection we have with the objects around us.

Noord see Lights explores how we can reshape this relationship. We believe everyone should have the freedom to create an environment that reflects their own personality. Through co-design, we give users influence over the design process and explore how choices in form, pattern and colour can contribute to a stronger sense of involvement.

A lamp designed specifically for someone, or one they have helped shape themselves, takes on a different meaning. It becomes more than a temporary interior object; it becomes part of a personal story.

For us, sustainability therefore begins not only with the material a product is made from, but also with the relationship that develops between people and objects. When people feel connected to a product, there is more reason to keep it, care for it and continue to value it over time.

Big news: Noord see Lights has officially landed a spot at Amstelveen’s

The pop-up opened this week with more than 90 visitors, bringing together local makers, circular initiatives and organisations with one shared goal: making circularity more visible, understandable and exciting.

At Noord see Lights, we want you to be part of the design process. Instead of anonymous mass produced lighting, we create lamps that fit your space, your style and your story.

Our lights are locally produced using digital manufacturing techniques and plant-based materials, with repair, disassembly and smart material use considered from the very beginning.

And we’re not here alone. We’re sharing the space with inspiring brands working on everything from reused materials and clothing to repair, personal care and local production.

Because circularity isn’t just about recycling. It’s about designing better, using things longer, repairing, sharing and making more conscious choices.

Noord see Lights krijgt een plek in de Circulaire Pop-up van Amstelveen De pop-up werd afgelopen maandag officieel geopend tijdens een drukbezochte bijeenkomst met ruim negentig bezoekers. Lokale ondernemers, circulaire initiatieven, overheden en andere betrokken organisaties kwamen samen rond een gedeelde vraag: hoe maken we circulariteit zichtbaar, begrijpelijk en aantrekkelijk voor een groter publiek?

Bij Noord see Lights willen we mensen kunnen betrekken bij het ontwerp van hun eigen lamp. Zo ontstaat geen anoniem massaproduct, maar verlichting die aansluit bij een ruimte, een persoonlijke smaak en een verhaal.

Onze lampen worden lokaal geproduceerd met digitale productietechnieken en plantaardige materialen. Daarbij ontwerpen we met aandacht voor materiaalgebruik, reparatie en demontage. Niet omdat circulariteit een toevoeging aan een product moet zijn, maar omdat het vanaf het begin onderdeel kan zijn van het ontwerp.

We delen de ruimte met andere ondernemers en initiatieven die ieder op hun eigen manier werken aan een circulaire toekomst en dat verbind.

Van producten gemaakt uit hergebruikte materialen tot oplossingen voor verzorging, kleding, reparatie en lokale productie: samen laten de deelnemers zien hoe breed circulariteit eigenlijk is. Het gaat niet alleen over afval of recycling. Het gaat ook over beter ontwerpen, langer of intensiever gebruiken, herstellen, delen en bewuster kiezen.

Het is inspirerend om tussen merken te staan die niet alleen vertellen dat het anders moet, maar het ook daadwerkelijk circulair doen.

Our biggest Noord see Lights lamp so far.

Dauw, Dutch for dew, is the three-part version of our Mist lamp. Three lamps with the same soft, organic shape come together to form one larger light object. By working with three different pattern densities, each lamp has its own rhythm, while together they form one cohesive whole.
Locally made in Amsterdam.

We’ve been refining our pendant lamp since presenting it at Object Rotterdam earlier this year. Meet Stuve :carefully developed with more balance and texture.

Inspired by the drifting sand along the North Sea coastline. The bold Carva pattern creates deep organic shapes and a sculptural presence.
