About Casa Gitane

“We’re here to make your vision come alive”

Gitane means gypsy. And so, Casa Gitane houses furniture and objects inspired by faraway places, world travels and a nomadic lifestyle. We offer a variety of services.

Casa Gitane Interior Collection is a fascinating mix of unique treasures, collectables and our own designs, available online as well as in our showroom. Gitane’s Agency creates interior concepts for the hospitality industry, retail, private homes and events. To cap it off, Casa Gitane’s Amsterdam space is a well-equipped daylight studio, available for photo shoots, events and presentations, collection launches and private dinners.

Meet the founders, Stella Willing and Machteld van der Werff, whose mutual fondness of beautiful objects and keen eye for design turned Casa Gitane into a place where creatives flock.

A profound love for interior decoration, travel, and materials led to the foundation of Casa Gitane. Founder Stella Willing can boast years of experience as a Lifestyle and Travel Editor for the Dutch editions of Glamour and Vogue. Over the course of many travels to Morocco, Mexico and Bali, her love for raw materials, fabrics and unique pieces was born. It grew into a desire to introduce such wonders to a wider audience.

Machteld van der Werff, co-founder of Casa Gitane, is a natural creator, planner and producer. After working as a Marketing & Event Producer for various magazines, she moved on to fashion brand Scotch & Soda. Here, Stella and Machteld launched Scotch Collectables; a collection of decorative pieces and vintage finds. Where Stella is the artistic soul of Casa Gitane, Machteld brings dreams to life, by producing and managing shoots, concept designs and events.

Together, Machteld and Stella travel the world in search of one-of-a-kind pieces of furniture and eclectic finds to complete the look they envision. Casa Gitane champions a singular mixture of styles and items; mixing old and new, simple and ornate, refined and charmingly hand-crafted.

Items are carefully selected and curated; always with your innate taste and sense of style in mind. Both founders see beauty in details and spend their days doing what they love most: creating sublime spaces that tell a story, because they believe every room has one.
