In 2025, let's feed the bees! 🐝🌼

While the wild things still look a bit asleep I've been preparing some good surprises for the spring.

I'm very happy to participate in this campaign from an organisation I've been following since I've moved to the Netherlands. are doing an amazing job to protect biodiversity.

I'll host a Foodbank for Bees where people from the neighbourhood can collect flower seeds to sow and help the insects. I'm super excited to welcome the neighbours who care for the environment and want to protect the biodiversity.

☀️ It's a wrap! Thank you all for the great morning we spend together playing with (old and new) pictures and leaving the screens behind. I'm amazed by the artworks, colours, textures and compositions full of warmth and playfulness!

The grass in the neighbourhood was mowed, but somebody decided to let the blooming purple malva stay there and greet us on the sidewalk. I wish I could thank this person :)

〰️ (not) choosing a main element 〰️

In my last ikebana class, my teacher asked me which element was the main focus of my arrangement. I didn't have an answer because I hadn't chosen a main element before starting. This has been bothering me since then, as I often do this in other aspects of my life. Do I refrain from choosing because I want everything? Or nothing at all? Or am I too afraid to choose the "wrong" option? And if there were a wrong option, how would I know?

I created espèces as a way to combine all my interests and values into one project. *I wanted to choose everything*.

〰️ espèces is a space for expression, community, and dreams in a symbiotic relationship. What connects and inspires the diversity of practices, objects, and ideas is ... Ｎａｔｕｒｅ ... in its mutualistic interactions.

I haven't been as active here as I dreamed at the beginning of 2023. For different reasons.

But I am here and espèces is still alive, as a project, a work in progress and a dream.

Our world has not been a good place to dream about the future. And it seems increasingly hostile to all kinds of life. Sometimes it is difficult to invest time and energy in our small projects knowing that the decisions that make a difference are made by the most irresponsible people.

But yeah, I’m still here. Are you?

I'm so grateful for this joyful afternoon in Meerhoven! Thanks everyone for stopping by espèces and the nice conversations we had about plants, design and creativity. Some of the treasures found a new home and I'm glad (and relieved) that so many people also want to make our planet a better place for the other species 🐟🐛🐝🌱🐇.

Launching espèces in a cool event, grow a façade garden and many many flowers for the bees... I had so many plans for the spring!
In the beginning of April I had an accident, broke my wrist, went through surgery and rehab... oh that was frustrating!
But something else has grown since the accident: acceptance, patience and (self) compassion. Nature demands time to heal and always knows the right time to bloom.
So here we are, launching espèces in the beginning of summer, with the yarrows (duizendblad), cornflowers (korenbloemen) and the evening primrose (teunisbloemen).
In four days I'll be with our pre-loved treasures at the Creative Fair in Meerhoven (Eindhoven-NL), an event made with love by International Creative Women
