𝟭𝟵𝟴𝟬 - 𝟭𝟵𝟵𝟬 • 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙝𝙞𝙨𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙮 𝙤𝙛 𝙬𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙬𝙚 𝙗𝙪𝙞𝙡𝙩

In 1988, the NTS privatises its facilities. The set-building department continues independently as NOB Decor, joined by designers from the former set design department. It becomes the market leader in set construction for television, theatre, and events.

Commercial television is booming, productions are getting bigger, and the demands on the craft are growing fast. With privatisation comes a new reality: broadcasters are no longer required to use NTS/NOB and can choose other suppliers. From that moment on, NOB Decor operates in an open market, competing with external companies as well.

Throughout the 1980s, we built sets for Countdown, Soundmixshow, Rons Honeymoonquiz, and Willem Ruis Show.

The opportunity to create a DJ booth for Tiësto AND have it sit directly underneath the iconic Atomium? Count us in! Projects like these are where we're in our element.

Making a perfect sphere requires precision from the get-go. To get the shape right, we fully 3D-milled the base and then wrapped it as tightly as possible in mirror film. A huge challenge, but seeing it shine out there made every bit of it worth it!

𝟭𝟵𝟳𝟬 - 𝟭𝟵𝟴𝟬 • 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙝𝙞𝙨𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙮 𝙤𝙛 𝙬𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙬𝙚 𝙗𝙪𝙞𝙡𝙩

In 1972, the department moves to its permanent home: Media Park in Hilversum, where it continues under the name NOS Dekor. A team of specialists comes together under one roof: machine woodworking, carpentry, decoration, painting, metalwork, plaster, chemistry, upholstery, light decoration, floral decoration, props, a furniture warehouse, a lamp warehouse, costume props, a textile warehouse, and weapons.

Colour television is now the standard, and productions grow bigger, faster, and more ambitious by the year.

Throughout the 1970s, we built sets for TopPop, Brandpunt, Ti ta Tovenaar, and Kunt u mij de weg naar Hamelen vertellen, mijnheer?

Somewhere between a video game and reality, this Minecraft-inspired world came to life. 🧱 Sulfur Cave & Dungeons 2 (Warden included), built for TwitchCon Europe 2026 at Rotterdam Ahoy.

A former carpet factory in Hilversum. Kampstraat. One central workshop where woodworking, painting, pre-assembly, upholstery, props, and offices come together under one roof. Bigger space. Bigger productions.

In 1967, colour television arrives. From then on, sets are built for both black-and-white and colour broadcasts.

Throughout the 1960s, we built sets for Pipo de Clown, Swiebertje, Ja Zuster, Nee Zuster, and Brandpunt.
