In this 150-year-old countryside house near Rome, I wanted the bedroom to breathe again — softly, quietly, naturally.
The original stone walls and imperfect curves of the old structure remain untouched, holding the memory of time.
Around them, I built a new feeling: rustic minimalism with Mediterranean warmth.

Raw wood, hand-woven textures, soft neutral bedding, and a deep indigo accent wall bring calm, depth, and soul.
My task in this whole project is simple and sacred:
to honor the history of this house while giving each room a new life — warm, modern, and deeply human.

A space where time slows down.
A space where you can finally breathe.

Transformation of an abandoned stone building into a warm, soulful interior.
I kept the natural textures — raw stone walls, soft neutral tones — and brought it back to life with Mediterranean-inspired accents.
The turquoise became the key color, adding freshness, light, and a sense of calm.

Pop-Art Romance | Design Concept Collage

I imagine color as rebirth: a flash of lemon light, a pink goddess guarding memories, a green rhythm weaving softness into concrete.
Every surface tells a story between decay and beauty.

Designing Restaurant LOase: A Labor of Love
A Fresh Start: The opportunity to design LOase, a restaurant in a renovated old school, provided with a chance to showcase her talent and begin anew. This project symbolizes hope and renewal, both for her career and her life.

Sustainability and Community: Solmaz embraced the core principle of sustainability by incorporating recycled materials and lush greenery into the design. Her vision for the restaurant is to create a vibrant community hub where people can gather, enjoy food and drinks, listen to live music, and feel a sense of happiness and peace.

Cultural Fusion: At the encouragement of her hosts, Rue and Regina, Solmaz infused the design with elements of her Iranian heritage, blending Eastern luxury and warmth with contemporary styles. This eclectic approach creates a unique and inviting atmosphere, reflecting her personal story and cultural background.

Resilience and Reinvention

From Iran to Ukraine to the Netherlands: Solmaz’s journey reflects her determination to pursue freedom and a better life. Leaving Iran at 19 to study architecture in Ukraine, she built a successful career as an interior designer, only to have her life upended by war. Fleeing to the Netherlands, she faced the challenge of starting over in a new country, yet she remained resilient and focused on her passion for design.

Her story highlights the strength of the human spirit in the face of political oppression, war, and personal struggles. Despite losing her home, studio, and established life, she continues to seek opportunities to rebuild and thrive.
