The smell of something grilling. A warm afternoon that slowly turns into evening without anyone really noticing. Two bottles on the table, one Cointreau, one Jack Daniel's, that clearly did their job well.

That hammered surface breaks the light in a way smooth glass never will. Small movements, warm reflections across the table, the kind of effect that makes people stop and look closer.

There is something satisfying about doing it right the first time.

Twist the fiberglass wick loose in one movement, slide the holder out, funnel in. Fill it three quarters with Peri Living Paraffine Oil. Not to the top, three quarters. Then leave it for fifteen minutes.

When you light it the flame starts small. That is the wick warming up. After fifteen to twenty minutes it settles and if it grows above two centimeters you push the wick down a little. Gently, because the holder can be hot by then.
