March arrived in full bloom—and with it, the most intense and exciting month I’ve had in the past half year.

New projects, fresh connections, and the first warm days of spring gave this month a wonderful rhythm of renewal and momentum.
The most exciting moment was joining , a local chapter of the global networking organization focused on building meaningful business relationships.

Every Friday now begins with a boost of energy, inspiration, and support. This step feels like a true investment in my personal and professional development—and definitely a leap outside my comfort zone.
And those breathtaking sunrises and cityscapes we see from our meeting room? I can’t get enough. (pic 3-4)
Everyone is welcome to join us as a guest for a networking breakfast held on the 23rd floor of the Marriott Hotel in Rotterdam. If you would like to join us, just drop me a line.

Another highlight was the Fair in Amsterdam, held in the stunning former trading hub designed by Berlage (pic 5). The atmosphere was buzzing with energy and global connections, and I’m so grateful to have been part of it.
Big thanks to .design and for inviting me!

This month also brought a very special branding session with (pic 1-2). Her eye, care, and calm presence turned a simple shoot into something truly personal and meaningful. Stay tuned, as she will be launching a special offer for branding photoshoots soon!

Somewhere in between it all, I managed a quick escape to Brussels for —the only fair dedicated exclusively to contemporary collectible design. A perfect mix of bold materials, tactile experiences, and fresh ideas (pic 6-7).

And yes, somehow, I also squeezed in several design consultations and kicked off two new renovation projects—one in Rotterdam Zuid and one closer to home in my beloved Blijdorp.

March, you were a lot—but in the best possible way.
How was your start of spring?

In Poland, where I come from, the kitchen is truly considered the heart of the home. It’s often a separate room, but spacious enough to fit a small table where people gather. I remember having tea—or a bowl of soup—in my grandma’s kitchen, never bothering to bring it to the dining room.

In the Netherlands, especially in century-old apartments, kitchens are often tucked away in narrow galley layouts, completely separated from the living area. No wonder so many of my clients ask to open them up and connect them with the rest of the home.

In this project, the kitchen was already part of the open-plan living room—but it still didn’t feel like the heart of the space.

My clients were frustrated with every aspect of it: the awkward layout, the colours they didn’t love, even countertops that were uncomfortably high. It felt cramped and chaotic—not functional, and definitely not joyful.

So we fixed it.
The first step was finding a layout that truly suited their needs and lifestyle.
The second was choosing colours and materials that made the space not only functional but beautiful too. That’s the recipe for a timeless, feel-good kitchen. Simple, right?

Today, the kitchen is their favourite spot in the house. They enjoy preparing meals, having family breakfasts, and entertaining friends—just as it should be.

This project was completed some time ago, but every time I work on a layout update, I pay extra attention to the kitchen. It’s such an essential part of the home.

Lately, I’ve been thinking about organising a series of consultations focused entirely on kitchens. We’ll tackle functionality and colour palettes to help you kickstart the process—and make that all-important first step easier.

If you love the idea, let me know in the comments—and I’ll start planning!

Lidia and Milco knew what they wanted but still struggled to find the right fit.
With my guidance, they navigated the process with confidence, avoided costly mistakes, and found their dream home on time and within budget.

„It’s all very impressive… but can you design a kitchen?”

That was the question one of my very first clients asked me. He had just flipped through my portfolio—museum for Prada Foundation, offices for Rotterdam municipality, largest hotel in Benelux—yet he wasn’t convinced.

At first, I was surprised. Why would designing a kitchen be any different? It might seem like a completely different skill set is required, but that’s not really the case.

For a seasoned designer, the size or type of project doesn’t matter—we approach it as a design puzzle to solve. And the more complex, the better. That was also true for me. Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to design and build projects around the world, working across different scales—from fancy hotels to bespoke pantries, sustainable facades to biodiverse roof gardens. Nearly two decades in the field have prepared me to take on any design challenge, no matter the scale. So I couldn’t quite understand why designing a kitchen would be any different from any other design task.

Also the process remains the same. Whether I’m working on a museum or a bathroom, every project starts with the same foundation: understanding needs, developing a clear concept, and creating a functional layout. Only then do we dive into colors, materials, and details. The next steps—technical drawings, organizing the construction process, and supervising the work—are exactly the same, just on a different scale.

And design doesn’t end when the drawings are delivered. I visit renovation sites just as often as I once visited the construction site of the Timmerhuis. And believe me, in both cases, there are on-site surprises, last-minute changes, and budget cuts. That’s just part of the process and you need to be ready to deal with it.

So, can I design a kitchen? Yes! And a whole lot more. Because whether it’s a kitchen or a museum, the key to great design is always the same: a clear process, a strong vision, and an experienced architect to bring your ideas to life.

Every project is a journey we take together—full of ideas, choices, and meaningful moments.

Each project tells a story about my client—just by looking at the finished space, you can feel who they are. Bold colors or soft, muted tones? Statement pieces or humble, handcrafted details? Every choice reflects a personality, a way of living, a sense of home.

For me, as a designer, every project is deeply personal too. I remember the excitement of first ideas taking shape, the long showroom visits, the heavy bags filled with samples, the countless coffees, and shared laughter. The challenges, the breakthroughs, the small moments of joy when everything finally clicks. And above all, the beautiful new connections, the trust you place in me, and the warmth of being welcomed into your homes.

For this photoshoot, I bought fresh flowers—but in the end, I chose a simple branch that my client’s son had picked during a walk by the river. Instead of a large, decorative vase, I used one of A’s—a beautiful, handcrafted glazed piece she brought back from a trip to Japan. It felt just right, a small but perfect reflection of the journey we shared and the memories woven into this project.

Creating a kitchen that truly reflects your lifestyle and taste starts with thoughtful design. But what does that really mean?

When it comes to designing a kitchen, it’s not just about aesthetics—thoughtful design considers your habits, how you live, cook, and entertain, ensuring that every element—from layout to colors and materials—works together to elevate your daily experiences.

In our globalized world, we encounter mass-produced solutions everywhere, from phones to furniture. But can one size really fit all? Absolutely not! Some of us spend hours in the kitchen, creating culinary masterpieces and hosting friends, while others just need a very efficient setups to whip up quick meals for hungry kids. Each kitchen has its own personality—what works in a century-old Amsterdam home may not suit a sleek skyscraper in Rotterdam.

Since we use our kitchens every day, why settle for a generic, anonymous design? It’s time to choose a bespoke kitchen that reflects your personality and meets your unique needs. Make your kitchen a space that embodies who you are and how you live, rather than just a place you glide through.

And what do you think about bespoke kitchens?

Designed with attention, crafted with care, enjoyed every day. ✨

In a world filled with complexity, the simplest solutions often shine the brightest. This minimal oak open shelving beautifully showcases my clients’ handcrafted Japanese ceramics and treasured cookbooks, elegantly framing these special objects.

It’s these thoughtful details that fill the space with personality and charm, making it truly feel like yours. You won’t find this level of personalised design and quality craftsmanship in mass-produced kitchens.

Buying a house with Big Plans in mind? Let’s talk!

Are you considering a home that needs major adjustments to match your vision—moving walls, adding extensions, or reshaping layouts?
Before you commit, make sure your dream is future-proof.

As an architect, I often work with clients after they’ve bought their homes, only to discover unexpected obstacles—like structural limitations, hidden costs, or planning restrictions. But here’s the good news: I now support clients during their home-hunting journey—helping them spot these red flags before they sign the contract.

Knowledge upfront means fewer surprises later.

Have you already bought a home? I’m curious—what caught you off guard after the purchase? Share your experience in the comments! ⬇️

Do you like reading biographies?

I do! I’m always curious about people—their stories, what shaped them, and what they create. That curiosity is at the heart of my work—every project starts with getting to know my clients, their needs, and their dreams. Most of them are expats, building new lives and homes here in the Netherlands. They share their stories with me, and it’s always inspiring.

But curiosity goes both ways! I know some of you are just as curious to learn more about me. Some of you know me in person, but many of you only virtually. If you’re wondering who I am, I’ve shared a few personal facts in my stories—things you might not expect, and maybe some we have in common!

Check them out and let me know if anything resonates with you. I’d love to hear!

Ever wondered how projects come to life?
Swipe through to catch a glimpse of how this custom kitchen took shape.

Meet Tom—a talented architect and fine cabinet maker. Our paths first crossed over a decade ago at OMA, and now, as we both work independently, we often collaborate on bespoke furniture projects. I trust him not only with my clients’ joinery but also with creating custom pieces for my own home.

Tom’s craftsmanship is truly exceptional, blending precision and creativity. We share a passion for refined detailing, natural finishes, and uncompromising quality.

Grateful to have you, Tom—here’s to many more projects ahead! ✨

In this corner, everything comes together: a simple concept brought to life through thoughtful design. Every detail is considered, every choice intentional.

You see a close up of the beautiful kitchen, but to me, this picture also represents the process and all the elements that must align: collaboration between the client, designer, and maker. Hours of meetings and discussions, testing, refining, and perfecting every detail until everything fits seamlessly.

Do you also pay attention to the details?
