Hi all.

This week I did the final jobs on the Italeri 1/32 F-104S ASA-M. Just when I thought the model was finished a small disaster happened. When I removed the masking tape from teh windscreen, I noticed some weird goo on the inside of said windscreen. It was impossible to remove, so I tried to, carefully, detach it from the fuselage. As you may guess, I had to order a new windscreen from Italeri because it cracked. 🤬🤬🤬🤬
Anyway, here are a few photos of the build so far while I patiently wait for the new part to arrive.

Hi all.

Today l did the final jobs to finish the Revell rebox of the Hasegawa 1/48 A-7E Corsair ll. The pitot tubes were fitted, the ejection seat was painted and placed in the cockpit, the landing light was also fitted and last but not least, the canopy was placed onto the model.
The kit was built mostly straight from the box, except for the Aires cockpit set.
Overall, the fit was quite good but the very hard plastic is not the best to work with.
I was very pleased with the kit decals. Too bad the 'VA-46' test was not included on the sheet. From several different spare decals l was able to fix this.
Paint used was MrHobby H308 over Alclad black primer. Weathering was done with washes made from Abteilung 502 oilpaint.

Hi all.

This is probably the last update before the Hasegawa A-7E is finished.
The VA-46 decals are added on the other side now as well as the under wing stores.
Also, a few small jobs were taken care of like adding the navigation lights, steps and boarding ladder, fuel dump and arrester hook.
Some oil streaks were made with oilpaint on the underside of the fuselage and drop tanks.

Hi all.

Since very observant Jean-Yves Stollesteiner noticed the missing 'VA-46' decal on the vertical stabilizer (not included on the decal sheet), I had to make my own or scavange some from my spares box. Unfortunately no 4 or 6 to be found but I could make them from several other digits and letters.
Anyway, I also painted and fitted the landing gear, pylons, tanks and Sidewinders the last couple of days.

Hi all.

Next update of the A-7E build.
Yesterday I finished painting the airframe and aplied a coat of Aquagloss.
Today I brushed an oilpaint wash over the whole aircraft and wiped all excess of after a few minutes drying time.
The kit decals are very nice but a bit old. They are a bit brittle, so I need to do a few minor touch ups.

Hi all.

After a lovely week's vacation in northern Italy it's back to the bench to do some work on the Hasegawa/Revell 1/48 A-7E.
The wings were glued onto the fuselage and all seamlines were filled with Tamiya putty and sanded smooth. Also panellines and rivets were restored where necessary.
The pylons and droptanks were also assembled and the (very vague) panellines on the tanks were rescribed.
Next, all parts were given a coat of black Alclad primer and started to airbrush the first 2 thin coats on the model.
Paint used: MrHobby H308 thinned with bio-ethanol.

Hi all.

While I'm forcing myself to put the final bunch of stencils on the 1/32 F-104, I started with the next kit to get motivated sgain.
Revell's rebox of Hasegawa's 1/48 A-7E Corsair ll with Aires cockpit is the one l picked from my to-do pile.
The Aires cockpit fits surprisingly well, after sanding a bit of resin from the underside.
Good reference photo's of the cockpit are a bit scarce so l had to use my imagination her and there.
Anyway, pretty happy with the progress so far but l need to return to the cockpit to fix a few small patches later.

Hi all.

This weekend l received the squadron markings for the 1/32 F-104. They were designed by Ashwin de Korte and they are of great quality. You can contact him for custom decals.
Besides applying the decals, I also finished the Videoaviation starter cart set. I had to repaint the compressor because l painted it the wrong colour.
I took a few photos and let AI create a background too. The weathering is somewhat exaggerated unfortunately but that's what AI does sometimes.
Final thing l did was making a base to put the models on using AK Interactive Terrains concrete and asphalt.

Hi all.
Work continues on the 1/32 F-104S ASA/M of both Rowdy's and mine. More and more stencils are added but the silvering of some of them is quite annoying and takes some work to get rid of.
Also, the pylons and fuel tanks are finally done.
In the meantime, I started painting the starter carts which are from Videoaviation. It's the first time I'm building one of their kits and I'm very impressed with the details and quality of the castings.

Hi all.

The Trumpeter 1/32 F-14A is finally finished, apart from a few small touch ups I noticed after taking the photos.
It was quite a journey but in the end she came out quite satisfactory.
There is an excessive amount of rivets on the nose section and on the tail end of the fuselage that needed to be filled. I know about the slightly misshapen air intakes but that doesn't bother me too much.
For this build I purchased quite a few aftermarket parts: ResKit 3d printed landing gear and exhausts, Aires cockpit, Quickboost ejection seats, Eduard Sidewinders and Sparrow missiles, MASTER pitot tube and HAD decals.
The model went together quite well but the sheer size of it makes it a bit hard to handle.
The rubber airbags under the wing's trailing edges were replaced with scratch built ones, made from mutiple layers of tissuepaper and pva glue.
The model was painted with paints, the metal parts with AMMO by Mig Jimenez A-Stand paints.
Weathering was done with a wash made from oilpaints.
Only last week, Ammo released a new set of water based brushs markers called The Missing Link. I tried them out on the wings of the Tomcat and it was a new experience for me. The result was very realistic in my opinion and a technique I want to use in my future builds too.
