Hi all.
The Trumpeter 1/32 F-14A is finally finished, apart from a few small touch ups I noticed after taking the photos.
It was quite a journey but in the end she came out quite satisfactory.
There is an excessive amount of rivets on the nose section and on the tail end of the fuselage that needed to be filled. I know about the slightly misshapen air intakes but that doesn't bother me too much.
For this build I purchased quite a few aftermarket parts: ResKit 3d printed landing gear and exhausts, Aires cockpit, Quickboost ejection seats, Eduard Sidewinders and Sparrow missiles, MASTER pitot tube and HAD decals.
The model went together quite well but the sheer size of it makes it a bit hard to handle.
The rubber airbags under the wing's trailing edges were replaced with scratch built ones, made from mutiple layers of tissuepaper and pva glue.
The model was painted with paints, the metal parts with AMMO by Mig Jimenez A-Stand paints.
Weathering was done with a wash made from oilpaints.
Only last week, Ammo released a new set of water based brushs markers called The Missing Link. I tried them out on the wings of the Tomcat and it was a new experience for me. The result was very realistic in my opinion and a technique I want to use in my future builds too.
