In this video, we examine how regular light cycles give livestock clear daily cues for eating, activity and recovery.

A predictable schedule helps establish stable routines, which can support consistent development and efficient feed use. It can also contribute to a controlled environment where animals can follow a clear rhythm throughout the day.

Lighting is a practical part of farm management. The timing and consistency of each cycle deserve careful attention when animal health and productivity are central to the operation.

In this video, we examine how LED lighting, precise dimming and targeted lighting programs can help poultry farmers manage energy use inside the barn. Instead of running every lamp at full output, farmers can adjust the intensity according to each production phase and the needs of the birds.

This level of control helps prevent overlighting, limits unnecessary power consumption and reduces maintenance demands. A well-planned lighting program can also support calm flock behaviour, feed efficiency and stable conditions inside the poultry house.

In this video, we examine how sudden shifts in brightness, visible flicker and intense light can affect flock behaviour.

Smooth dimming gives birds time to adjust when lighting levels change, helping prevent panic responses, huddling and aggressive behaviour.

Colour selection also influences the conditions inside the house. Warm tones can support calm periods, cool tones can complement active periods and UV light can support how birds perceive their surroundings.

When dimming, colour and light quality are managed carefully, farmers can create a stable environment that supports poultry welfare and daily flock management.

In this video, Jos van Leeuwen shares his experience with HATO PULSA XL at the Van den Boomen broiler farm in Helden.

Following a recommendation by installation specialist Sleegers Farm Equipment, the farm selected PULSA XL during the renovation of its poultry house.

The fixtures provide uniform light distribution and the required light levels across the barn. This gives the flock a consistent light climate while supporting visibility and daily poultry management.

Six years after installation, the farm has not replaced a single PULSA XL lamp.

Last week, our Brightness Consultant Cristabel Huerta joined the programme with a presentation on light management in modern egg production. She shared practical insights into the influence of light distribution, spectrum, flicker, dimmability and light zones inside the poultry house.

Together with Laetitia Cerqueira, HATO’s representative for Southern Europe, she also invited visitors to explore lighting through HATO’s PR-X VR experience.

The seminar created valuable conversations about lighting, animal welfare and the changing needs of Italian egg producers. We would like to thank H&N for the invitation and everyone who took the time to exchange ideas with our team.

Last week, we welcomed the Poultry Climate Platform to HATO for a morning dedicated to knowledge sharing about the climate inside poultry houses.

Our Business Development Manager BeNeLux, Nikki Verheijden-Boumans, hosted the visit and shared HATO’s expertise on light as an essential climate factor. She explained how light influences poultry’s day and night rhythm, activity, behaviour, welfare and performance. A carefully designed light climate therefore deserves a clear place within effective climate management.

Ingrid de Jong from Wageningen University & Research also presented recent research findings on light intensity, environmental variation and light gradients for poultry.
Her contribution provided valuable input for the discussions between professionals working in practice, research and technology.

Thank you to the Poultry Climate Platform and everyone who joined us for the visit.

We appreciate the open conversations and shared interest in developing the poultry sector through knowledge and collaboration.

We are pleased to welcome Agrilight to the HATO family.

Since 2001, Agrilight has built close relationships with cattle farmers, dealers and partners across Europe. We greatly value the trust behind those relationships and the dairy farming expertise that has shaped the Agrilight brand.

Agrilight will continue as a recognised brand endorsed by HATO. Together, we will focus on continuity, personal communication and long-term support for the cattle farming community.

This marks the beginning of a new chapter. One built on shared knowledge, trusted relationships and a commitment to lighting that supports farmers and their animals.

In this video, we explore how CORAX and PULSA help farmers build lighting programs around their flock, housing setup and production objectives. Precise controls allow lighting conditions to remain consistent during the production cycle, while integration with climate and farm systems supports coordinated barn management.

This approach gives farmers practical control over the light climate and limits the need for frequent manual changes. Efficient energy use, stable flock conditions and responsible resource management also contribute to sustainable poultry production.
