The Maple dining chairs, for Dutch manufacturer Bert Plantagie, have graced thousands of dining rooms throughout Europe for more than 15 years. Maple’s elegantly leaf-inspired shape, its infinite styling options, and ergonomic excellence have enhanced many a feast. Available in various frames (wood or metal), armrest options, and fabric/leather combinations, the Maple is a sweet enhancement to your entertaining events.

In combination with our designed Poppy dining table, the conically shaped metal legs are fitted seamlessly and integrate into the tabletop. Poppy has numerous wood and colour possibilities to complement all dining interiors.

Devils may wear Prada, but they Caruzzo for Comfort

Caruzzo Ampio made un grandissimo debutto at Salone del Mobile, Milan this April. Designed by Frans Schrofer, the Caruzzo lounge chair was introduced in 2015. It was bestowed a Red Dot Award for its sharp edges, dynamic shaping, and handcrafted cross-stitch spinal details, reflecting the speed of life for those propelled in the cyber lane. For more than 10 years, the Caruzzo has successfully sustained the top commercial position for the Dutch furniture brand Leolux.

Some Ideas get better when they get BIGGER

The Caruzzo Ampio version is intended for fellow compatriots who think, dream, and are BIG. They demand a design that embodies comfort, character and above all charisma. Measuring just under two meters tall, Schrofer knows the “Dutch Dilemma” when, at no fault of your own, your monumental posture exceeds all international norms.

“The scientific research reveals that better nutrition has resulted in taller and stronger populations. The research also indicates that leaders, decision-makers, and captains of industry tend to be of greater stature, skewing the norms for ergonomic proportions. As a designer, this is significant information for me to design for a neglected part of the market.”

Compared to its predecessor Primo, the Amplio has an increased back height of 700ml; expanded shoulder and hip proportions, providing a generous seat comfort, softened lines in the seat cushions, and a sharpened spine expressing a strong backbone. For imposing figures who want to amplify their aura, AMPIO by Leolux.

Salone del Mobile, 2026. Everyone wants to kiss this furniture fair. So we designed one for it.

BIZU is a sculpturally shaped wooden dining chair with upholstered seating that welcomes diners with a light touch and warm embrace. BIZU, as the name suggests, derives from the French word “bisou”, the affectionate practice of greeting friends and family with a tender peck on both cheeks. Designed by Frans Schrofer for the Portuguese manufacturer More Contract, BIZU features More Contract’s mastery in carpentry, showcasing the rich wood grain as nature’s authentic kiss.

BIZU’S backrest is curvaceous, shaped like an embrace of a welcoming, warm-hearted host. It's supported by tapered back legs with a flattened ellipsoid connection designed for visual harmony and durability. Armrests are softened and rounded, welcoming leaning elbows, caressing hands, and patient forearms. Depending on the setting, BIZUs can be as numerous as the space allows or as intimate as the setting dictates.
Available in various wood tones and fabric selections.

Everyone loves a good story - it fuels our imagination and creativity, compelling us to sit, listen, and learn. RAWI, is the Arabic term for storyteller, a transmitter of traditions. We find ourselves often in the kitchen or at the dining table, absorbing the oral tales of our elders through food, drink and dining rituals. The RAWI adds brightness to the narrative with its colourful angular legs, a comforting embrace in its sweeping back curve. Meticulously crafted, with a clever ex*****on of materials, the RAWI’s internal metal frame ensures an engaged audience.

A single motion of force between a bell and its gong sets a design in motion – beckoning a community to gather and celebrate.

The GONG table for Metaform captures the silence that literally “hangs in the air” with a control, restraint, tension and tranquillity. The undulating aluminium legs orient themselves toward the beam, flowing elegantly between technical expression and refined presence. The GONG invites all to partake in its rest and resonance, to dine, to discuss or to deliberate.

A ceramic tabletop harmonises the tone and the timbre of the composition.

At this year's Destination Design, Studio Schrofer celebrates Bert Plantagie's 25 years of creative vision.

Our collaboration has been an adventurous learning curve where design and production are intertwined into a single process, saving time, money and resources. Over the years, our shared belief in personal engagement and hands-on involvement has elevated each new design to a higher level.

Invisible to the naked eye - the inner frame, the welds, the seams, the moulded foam - are hundreds of hours of deliberate investigation by our respective teams. This devotion is embedded in the soul of each produced model.

Some collaborations don't form a chapter, they form a foundation. Over 35 years ago, Metaform's founder Jürn Stuurman committed to a partnership with me that has endured through the decades.Karlo Hamstra has carried the Metaform legacy further, strengthening trust, craftsmanship, and imagination.

We both feel the power working with our hands, the tension between craftsmanship and material strength and the intensity of two teams welding our energies, resources and time. Where Studio Schrofer contributes the clarity of form, Metaform delivers precision and technical prowess. This shared vision comes to life at Destination Design.
