Off to find a better spot. And another. And another.

Seat, footrest, side table, and never in the same place twice.

Where would you take it?

An armful of green, carried outside to see what it really is.

Light on a painted wall. Then trees. Then bark, close enough to touch, where green stops being a colour and turns into a texture.

None of it was meant to be a reference. All of it ended up being one.

Everything in October seems to end up on the floor. The blankets, the books, the nuts that never quite make it to the bowl.

Good month for a rug.

From the doorway it looks just pink. Up close that changes.

Rust, cream, lilac, a brown that leans red - dozens of colours twisted into one thick strand, and worked into something you feel through your socks before you see it properly.

It is why wool never flattens out the way a printed colour does. There is always something else going on in there.

Worth getting down on the floor for.

The time has come: the clocks have gone back and winter time has begun. From now on it really is dark before dinner.

Over the next six months a rug proves its worth all over again: it keeps your feet warm, it gives you somewhere to sit, and it holds the room together as the light fades.

Enjoy the extra hour. Preferably barefoot.

Seeing a rug in person changes the decision. Come and do exactly that.

We have two showrooms: our own base in Elst, Gelderland, and the Design Tales building in Hilversum. Both by appointment — which means the time is yours, and nobody is waiting behind you.

Book online, or just call or email us. Bring a photo of the room and your measurements if you have them, and we will go through it with you: colours in your own light, the right size, which technique suits how you live.

Plan your visit via the link in our bio.

Officially, it is a rug.

Unofficially, it is a roof, a wall, a hiding place and the best room in the house.

Made to last. Tested more thoroughly than we had planned.

In October, everybody suddenly looks at their floor.

The evenings get darker, the room you walked through all summer becomes the room you actually sit in, and the house quietly moves one step closer to the ground. A good month to start with colour.

Which one would you take home?

Every rug starts like this.

Thick or thin, smooth or looped: choosing is the slow part of our work. It is also the part that decides everything.
