An important perspective from Nepal’s MICE and events industry.
Our thoughts are first and foremost with the families and communities directly affected by the devastating floods. Relief, rescue and support must remain the priority. 🤍
At the same time, it is important that the international community has an accurate picture of the situation across Nepal.
There is growing concern that the entire country, including Kathmandu, has been affected in the same way. That is simply not an accurate representation of what is happening on the ground.
Nepal is geographically diverse, and a crisis in one region does not mean the entire country is affected in the same way.
For tourism, hospitality and MICE, international confidence matters. An incomplete picture today can have consequences for businesses, livelihoods and planned events long after the immediate crisis has passed.
We stand with those affected and support the relief efforts underway. We also hope that future travel and event decisions are based on accurate, current and destination-specific information.
Nepal is hurting. Nepal is responding. But Nepal is not one single affected zone.
Please share this message if you believe in helping the world understand the situation in Nepal accurately.
