We are saddened and angered to learn the news that the Paeroa Maritime Park's river cruise boats were broken into last night and a large number of valuable and irreplaceable items were stripped and stolen from the vessels.

This is heartbreaking for the team at the maritime park who put so much effort into preserving the heritage and providing a wonderful experience for our community. A real kick in the teeth for the group of people that work tirelessly to provide this local historical attraction.

Taken were large ships portholes and fittings as well as a lot of brass items etc. all pivotal to the structure and running of these boats.

If anyone saw anything unusual in the area last night or has any knowledge about the scumbag lowlifes that did this, please contact Paeroa Police.
