Last weekend our Technical Sales Manager Jason Ford took on the challenge of the Hanmer Springs MTB Backyard Ultra - a race where riders complete a 10.5 km loop every hour, on the hour, until only one rider remains.

Each lap includes 173 metres of elevation across some of Hanmer’s best mountain bike trails.

On lap five, Jason suffered a rear tyre blowout. Showing true Resilience - one of ADLT’s STAR values (Service, Trust, Accountability, Resilience) - he pushed his bike 5.5 km back to the start line to make it in time for the next lap, jumping onto his spare bike to keep going.

Jason then completed two more laps, finishing with 70 km ridden over 5.5 hours. An incredible effort.

We’re always proud to support our team in their personal pursuits, and it was great to provide a marquee for Jason’s support crew and an ADLT jersey for race day.

We’re very proud of Jason’s performance over the weekend - and of the same determination and commitment he brings to delivering for our clients every week. 👏

We recently hosted our Sales Conference at our HQ in Tauranga — and took the opportunity to showcase an exciting solar solution we’ll be offering to the market.

Now installed in the carpark at the front of our office is the Sunpole from our partner Vicpole Streetscape Solutions. This sleek, integrated solar pole features a Lithium Iron Phosphate battery housed neatly within the slimline pole design, delivering up to 6 days of autonomy.

The pole is fitted with a 3000K dark sky friendly Energy UNO luminaire from Cree Lighting Europe, complete with a backlight shield to ensure zero spill light into the neighbouring property.

We think the Sunpole looks right at home at our HQ, and we’re looking forward to delivering this sustainable, high-performance solution on our clients’ projects in the near future.

At Advanced Lighting Technologies, we’re proud to support initiatives that balance innovation with environmental responsibility.

In line with International Dark Sky Week, we’re excited to share our involvement in a project that exemplifies this balance: the upcoming LED streetlight upgrade along SH1 in Kaikōura, New Zealand - a region recently recognised as an International Dark Sky Sanctuary.

We’ve been specified to supply Energy TREs from Cree Lighting for this project. These high-performance luminaires provide efficient, targeted illumination while minimising light pollution - a key factor in helping protect the endangered Hutton’s shearwater (tītī), a native seabird highly sensitive to artificial lighting.

This initiative, led by NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi and Connetics represents an important shift towards lighting infrastructure that’s safer, smarter, and more sustainable for people and the planet. We’re honoured to play a part in making it happen.

We’re proud to have been involved in the Sands Town Centre - a game-changing, billion-dollar development by the Bluehaven Group in Golden Sands, Pāpāmoa. Once completed, this vibrant new hub will be one of the most significant commercial centres in the Bay of Plenty, offering a mix of retail, residential, hospitality, visitor accommodation, public services, supermarkets, medical facilities, and community amenities.

For Stage One, ADLT supplied cutting-edge lighting solutions, including Energy Tre luminaires from Cree Lighting mounted on our 7.6m square poles (as seen in the carpark) and XSPW wall-mounted luminaires from Cree Lighting—ensuring a well-lit, welcoming environment for visitors.

The first stage of The Sands officially opened on November 5, 2024, featuring a locally owned New World supermarket and seven additional tenancies, including food and beverage and health and beauty services.

We’re excited to see this project come to life and look forward to its continued development!

Our final dispatch days are as below:

South Island customers:

Last day for poles: Tuesday 10th December
Last day for luminaires: Friday 13th December

North Island customers:

Last day for poles: Tuesday 17th December
Last day for luminaires: Thursday 19th December (note: this is assuming you are available to take receipt of deliveries between Dec 23rd & Jan 3rd)

Our last working day before the Christmas and New Year closure period is Friday December 20th and we will reopen on Monday January 6th 2025.

The event was an awesome opportunity to hear from prominent figures in the dark sky space and network with people in the lighting industry. We would like to thank Massey University and Illuminating Engineering Society of Australia and New Zealand Ltd for hosting this event.
