🌼 Kōwhai Festival 2026 - What an incredible day! 🌼

Our first big festival adventure, and definitely one to remember!

It was our first time setting up a gazebo, and we were lucky enough to have a corner spot with two open sides! We tried a Z-shaped table layout to welcome visitors from different directions, and it worked beautifully!

The weather was gorgeous, the streets were buzzing, and the love and support were beyond anything we expected! 🥹💕

So many lovely visitors, sweet compliments, familiar faces stopping by, and wonderful families choosing handmade crochet friends for their little ones. Some even went home with quite a collection! 🧶💕

✨ 62 handmade cuties found new homes! ✨

We even received a custom order afterwards, enjoyed some lovely chats with our fellow crochet maker next door, and had an unexpected encounter with the Prime Minister! 📸 😁

A HUGE thank you to everyone who stopped by, supported our little business, or simply shared a kind word. You truly made our day! ❤️

And now we’re getting ready for another exciting new adventure…

📍 Next stop: Ellerslie Village Market Launch | Sunday, 25 October!

Can’t wait to meet another lovely community! 🥰

Little stitches bring great joy. 💕

68 little friends found new homes at my last market!

With just over a week between markets, I’ve been spending every spare moment crocheting to restock for the Kowhai Festival 🧶✨ Here’s what I’ve made so far, with more still on the way!

What would you like to see on my table? Comment below and help me choose what to crochet next! 👇

Just too cute not to share 🎀

A customer sent me an inspiration photo and asked, “Can you make this in crochet?” 🧶

Here’s my take! A soft crocheted face, dark brown hair as requested, plus bangs and a bow headband for a little extra sweetness.

And now she’s in her forever home 🏡💕 The last photo is from my lovely customer, with her pretty hair clips already in place!

🌼 KŌWHAI FESTIVAL 2026 – A LITTLE FOOD FOR THOUGHT 🌼

We've noticed a few comments recently questioning whether the Kōwhai Festival is going ahead this year, with some people saying they haven't seen any advertising.

Firstly, YES! The Kōwhai Festival is absolutely happening on Saturday 17 October! 🎸🎶

But we'd also like to take a moment to address something.

Festival flags are flying throughout Warkworth, advertising signs are displayed around town, we've had radio advertising, social media promotions, regular Facebook updates and information available on our website.

So it does raise the question – what more could we realistically have done?

Perhaps this highlights a much bigger issue facing Warkworth.

Our town has changed. Since the motorway bypass opened, fewer people need to travel through the town centre. Shopping habits have changed, people are travelling elsewhere, and the foot traffic that Warkworth once enjoyed isn't necessarily what it used to be.

If people aren't regularly coming into town, they're naturally not going to see the flags, signs and advertising that are there.

And unfortunately, Facebook algorithms mean that even when we regularly promote something, it doesn't guarantee everyone will see it.

The Kōwhai Festival isn't just another event. It's an opportunity to bring people back into the heart of Warkworth, support our local businesses, celebrate our community and keep a much-loved tradition alive.

We absolutely welcome questions, feedback and suggestions. But we'd also love to see that same energy going into supporting, sharing and celebrating the festival.

Instead of asking why you haven't seen the advertising, perhaps ask yourself when you last spent some time in the heart of Warkworth.

Our town needs its community, and community events need their people.

So please, share our posts, tell your friends, bring your families and come along!

🌼 Saturday 17 October 2026

🛍️ Market: 9am–4pm

🎸 Live entertainment, food and bar: 11am–9pm

🎶 Old School Rock & Roll theme!

Let's fill Warkworth with the people, music and atmosphere that make this festival so special.

Five committee members can organise a festival, but it takes a whole community to make it a success. 💛🌼

My first time making loveys and I think I’m in love 🥹

Meet these squishy little Chick & Duck loveys! Only their little heads are stuffed, while the bodies stay soft and floppy, perfect for little hands to hold and cuddle.

And even better… they were made from a free pattern by Beck 🧶, with a few little tweaks from me ✨

Which one is your favourite, Chick or Duck? 🐥🐤

One of the most interesting custom orders I’ve received from a market 🦉🏄🍫

A little owl - their favourite animal, standing on a surfboard - their favourite sport, with a chocolate bag - their favourite treat! 🤎

Such a fun combination to turn into one very personal handmade gift. 🥹🧶

I absolutely loved bringing this idea to life!
