Oh I do love me some Hellebores! I foraged a little bunch yesterday, before they are gone until next year. A patch of hellebores in bloom is good for the soul!
In the Victorian language flowers, the hellebore flower was said to symbolize ‘scandal and calumny’. I had zero idea what calumny but google tells me it means a false and damaging accusation about someone — malicious and slanderous! Gossip! Disgrace! Nasty rumours! Not my beautiful Miss Hellebore!

I’m not waiting for the equinox! For me, September first is S P R I N G 🌱🌻🌸🌷🪻Hooray!!
To celebrate, here is a peek at my new range of cards. Spring blooms in a simple glass vase, images which you may recognise from my 2025 calendar. I think they were worthy of a second go at something! They have come up beautifully as cards.

In the Victorian language of flowers, Ten Week Stock has the rather specific meaning of ‘promptness’ — she’s a flower that doesn’t like to keep you waiting! It’s also linked with lasting beauty and affection, which feels like a good combo: doesn’t muck around, lovely to have around, and memorable long after.

The name Ten Week Stock came from its unusually ‘prompt’ habit of flowering, traditionally said to bloom roughly ten weeks after sowing, not how long the flowers last.

How nice to see the Daffodils in bloom 🌼 Such optimistic sunshiny happy flowers!
back in the 1500s they were known as ‘Daffadowndilly’ which I absolutely love! A wonderfully old-fashioned, sing-song kind of a name - which feels fitting for a flower associated with spring and new beginnings 🌱

Loving the orchids that are available at this time of year…vase life is incredible!! Fun fact: Green orchids symbolize good fortune, health, longevity, and natural harmony. Because green is the color of life and renewal, these gorgeous blooms represent fresh starts, positive energy, and balance. Well that’s rather nice as we head towards springtime 🌱🩷

This image was taken a while ago, but I just love simple, humble arrangements of blooms picked from the garden! Sometimes all you need is a few sprigs of something to brighten a window ledge. Despite her simplicity, she packs a punch:
Daisies symbolise innocence and new beginnings, yarrow represents healing and protection, red valerian speaks of strength and resilience, and purple toadflax adds a sense of grace and enduring beauty.
PS: I am an unashamed lover of pink 🩷

Hello friends! It has been a while. I’ve been taking a little break and thinking about where to take my little flower obsession, and some new ideas are bubbling away! So watch this space. My 2027 calendar is in the works too, I’ll keep you posted on that. Thanks for sticking with me! Remember…spring is on the way…..🌷

A Cherry Blossom phone case especially for my Mama 🌸
I have been absent for ages, so hello again!
It has taken me a while to finally do it, but as of 28th May my website, as you know it, will be no more. This is not a goodbye necessarily but just a reset. A cloud of cherry blossom 🌸
I took this photo last spring. I drove past a magnificent flowering cherry tree, grabbed my camera and stood under its branches looking up into pink fluffy clouds! I kind of forgot I’d taken it, but I kind of love it 🥰
There is a tradition in Japan - ‘Hanami’, that celebrates the fleeting beauty of cherry blossoms. It is commonly known as “flower viewing” and is simply the ancient practice of gazing upon the flowers. In times gone by farmers would pray, make offerings and prepare a feast under the trees, in the hope this would result in an abundant harvest.
