My Origin Story
(That nobody asked for 😅)
My Mum is a flower lover. She'd take me round the garden as a kid telling me all the flower names.
I really loved flowers.
I'd put little posies together for the neighbours across the road pretty regularly. It was only when I got older that I found out my lovely elderly neighbour had a severe pollen allergy, so would gratefully take the flowers and thank me, then when I left would need to put them outside before her allergies started playing up, specially the ones with lillies! 🤧
Around 16 I was lucky enough to pick up an after school florist job. I loved this job and was taught all the skills needed for a junior florist. My boss at the time put me through quite a few apprentice competitions which I did quite well at. These were an awesome opportunity and gave me a lot of confidence to move forward in the industry to intermediate then senior florist.
Fast forward 18 years on, I had the privilege over the years of working with a lot of seriously awesome florists. It's an industry with incredibly hard working and talented people.
I had my daughter Clara, and was needing to decide on my next move. So figured, "hey, if not now then when?"
So I just went for it. I started a website, gathered supplies and just started. A lot of folks have supported me right from the get go. To those people I am eternally grateful because it was a huge leap of faith for me 🌸
I wanted to stick to just dried flowers to make my schedule more flexible as a Mum, and I could plan my year out accordingly with the season's. It's been a bit of figuring out what people want and like, all that kind of thing, a lot of building from the ground up. Running any small business isn't easy, running anything in the flower industry is tough!
But it's been a dream to do this, and I've had a huge amount of support. From Mum letting me cut her flowers, to Mrs Strackon never telling me she was allergic to my posies, to all the amazing florists I've met along the way, to you guys who supports me through this journey, I appreciate everyone because it's all culminated in me doing the thing I have always loved 💐
