Falcons lodge was designed by Chilton + Mayne Architecture and built by Shore Construction ... it still remains one of our favourite powder rooms. Featuring travertine tiles and a hand blown SOKTAS ™ light.

To say we are over the moon is an understatement!

Steph and the Mooi Design team had the absolute pleasure of working on this beautiful Lake Hood home, alongside a wonderful client who trusted us completely throughout the design process. That trust gave us the freedom to create something really special, and we couldn’t be more proud of the end result.

We are forever grateful for clients who put their faith in us and allow us to do what we love. 🤍

A huge thank you to Billy and the team at Ashburton Joinery, and Sam and the team at Millar Construction . It truly was a dream team, a dream project, and an end result we are incredibly proud of.

There are some people you meet who just feel familiar from the very beginning.

Eleven years ago, Renee and I met on our first day studying Interior Design. We were both starting career number two and becoming students again. Within about ten minutes of meeting her, I’d changed class streams so we could study together. It sounds a little unhinged now 😂, but I just knew she was someone I wanted in my corner. It was one of those rare friendships where you instantly feel at ease.

We graduated, found our own paths, I disappeared off to the UK for a stint, and eventually came home to start Mooi Design.

In 2018, Renee joined me, and honestly, she never really worked for Mooi… she’s always worked like it was hers.

She has poured everything into this business from day one. She cares deeply about our clients, celebrates every win, loses sleep over projects, and has always treated every decision as though her own name was already on the door. We keep each other grounded, calm each other through the inevitable storms of running a business, and somehow always find a way forward together.

As the years have gone on, it became increasingly obvious that Renee isn’t just part of Mooi—she is Mooi.

So this year, we’ve made it official. I’m incredibly proud to announce that Renee is now a shareholder in Mooi Design.

Renee, thank you for your friendship, your loyalty, your ridiculously hard work, and for believing in this little dream from the very beginning. There is no one I’d rather build the next chapter with.

Now everyone knows what I’ve known for years… you’re officially stuck with me. 🤍

We’ve had a fantastic start to 2026, with several beautiful homes recently photographed. Some of these projects have been in the works since 2023–2024, so it’s incredibly rewarding to finally see them captured and to reflect on the journey of bringing each interior to life.

This beautiful home in Lake Hood, Ashburton is one of them — and it’s currently on the market! Thank you to our lovely client for allowing creative freedom on this project, what a dream!

We’re heading into a scheduled quieter period over the coming months ✨

With Olivia currently on maternity leave and Candice heading off on maternity leave soon, our workload is reduced until August.

Signing off 2025 with this dreamy en-suite ✨

We had big plans to be more active on socials this year… then projects got busy, families got busier, and suddenly it was December.
