Hey guys, finally back on the lathe, found this nice ish piece of 'lorecce',I think that's how it's spelt.Started out at photo 1 and through to completion.Made purely for stock for the upcoming Gore Hokonui Community Market ,2nd Saturday of next month.For a piece of what most would consider to be firewood,, actually came out really nice, measures approx 200 across x 60 high and 50 deep internally.Sanded down to 400 and linseed oil finish,oh and it's 'end turned ', which is very time consuming... cheers all have a great weekend.. Hey guys, another transformation done,,pull it all apart,sand everything down to get the original finish off, repair all the failed timber and some of the original terrible turning on the legs,, resanded to get to a reasonable standard,,then throw some 'Rimu' coloured dye at it (2 coats over the whole thing),then 3 coats of UV resistant satin clear (sanded between each coat), and then a coat of UV resistant clear over the top,,came out really nice,, cheers all have a great weekend.. Hey guys, and yet another afternoon spent working for 'Seams'n'stitches', Leanne has done all the upholstery and now I am putting it all back together, and as per usual there is always something that breaks when you pull chairs apart and in this case it's the wee caps that go over the screws that holds the back on,,oh well, can't buy them, so I have to make them (16), hand cut from a piece of dowel sanded down to the right,ish,, profile then tapped into the holes,,came out pretty good.. The devil has always been in the detail , cheers all have a great weekend.. Iain

Hey guys,I know that this wee 'jig',I dreamed up and made is far from perfect.. but it does the job,, made for cutting a radius on the bandsaw,, limited in it's applications.. but it works perfectly ,, can't ask for more than that,, used it for the first time on an irreplaceable piece of timber for a customer,,came out perfect, cheers all have a great week.. Hey guys,as promised, progress pictures through to completion,now I honestly can't remember the correct engineering term for the fit I just did, it's either friction or interference, either way,came out perfect, to the point I had to cut a wee groove down the side of the piece to let the air out as the plunger goes down,I think it is destined to be making biscuits or meat patties... fun to make, and a really good result.. cheers all have a great weekend..
