🌿 Look what I found! New Zealand’s tallest moss! 😍

Such a special and rare find on my moss adventure today. 💚 This beautiful moss is Dawsonia superba, known for being one of the tallest mosses in the world.

🌱 Dawsonia superba can grow up to 60 cm tall, which is incredible for a moss! It is known as the tallest moss in the world that can stand upright on its own. Its tall stems and spreading leaves give it an almost miniature palm-tree appearance. 🌿

Its Māori name, pāhau-kākāpō, means “beard of the kākāpō”, referring to the spiky whiskers of our beautiful native kākāpō. 🦜💚

I’ve seen so many different mosses while exploring the New Zealand bush, but finding this one was pretty special! 🌿😍

A little moss appreciation post 🌿

Sometimes all we need is a little bit of green. Terrariums, moss bowls, or even outdoor moss gardens can bring a peaceful little touch of nature into our space.

Who says you need to water plants to enjoy greenery? 🌿

Trying out some terrarium designs with preserved moss and loving how simple they are no watering, no care, just stays looking good.

If you struggle to keep moss or plants alive, this is a great option 😄 You still get that natural feel without the stress. Even if you go away for a while, it stays looking great.

I wanted to share something a bit special today 💛
My friend Donna creates the most beautiful iron-art paintings — birds, native flora, and so many other unique pieces. She’s incredibly talented, and I’m really lucky that she also takes my earrings along to her markets for me.
